my wife would put a mousetrap on my junk while I slept at night if I went that route.

As to the couch, we bought shock mats. Now that works!

I cut up my deer in the kitchen-the wife helps. Hell, so do my kids.

Who the hell hangs deer in their house?

creative license. Wouldn't actually be "hanging in the kitchen." Would be hanging in the garage while I cut off big pieces and then butchered in the kitchen.

Wife was not a big fan when I did that a few years back. Plus the dogs go nuts.
Actually, doing 2 deer wouldn't be easy. Nowhere to hang 2. Last one I did, I have an attic port in the garage, opened that up and put a 2x4 across the frame hole and then hung it from that. Two deer at the same time would be a PITA.

Weather was pretty mild when I got my deer this year, would have had to do them both quick.

    Suburban deer hunter problems...

I've cut deer up at the house and I live in an arts district. Honestly, I love seeing the horrified looks when I man handle a doe out of the back of my truck to go hang in the backyard. Ive done the same, break it down to cut and pack in the kitchen. This softy across the street told my wife that the last time I did it he and his boyfriend cried when they saw me drag that doe out back. Made me want to buy another freezer so I could go get a couple more.

It’s a shame they don’t appreciate your art.

Fwiw--what works for me... para cord over a branch in the back to hang the deer. Skin, remove lower legs, cut off shanks, Quarter, remove various other cuts (backstraps, neck, tenderloins, ribs). All into an igloo cooler on the back porch. The processing (remove silver skin, debone, grind, packaging) takes place in the kitchen...

Carcass in a contractor sized bag, muni trash...

For the elk, it gets done the same, sans tarp...

For smaller deer, by the time I've dragged the damn thing from the woods, I'm ready for any (mechanical or physical) advantage I can get.

Turns out my drive home yesterday could have been a lot worse over 370 crashes and 400 vehicles off the road according to the state troopers. One stretch of 94 I drive had 2 closures, another closure up another 12 miles. It took a while but safe and sound, I'm an excellent driver. (rain man not arrogant)

Since weve already done the gift exchange and holiday meal (last weekend to appease the kids conflicting work schedules), my wife said, "well, you might as well go hunting tomorrow. Not like we have anything else going on."

Temp drop of 30-45 degrees over the next 18hrs...

    Maybe I will.

Having an extra fridge helps. Hang the deer in the garage one to five days weather dependent. Not a fan of hanging deer outside-too much temp variation. Quarter up and put in fridge. My target butcher time is 5 days but will do it after 3 if i had to put it in fridge.

If i have 2 deer, i have a 150 qt cooler i use for fish. Quarter, bag and ice. Or for an average doe, take off neck and legs below the knees. Stuff cavity will 10 pounds snd then fill the voids around the carcass.
