My youngest got into the Univ of Tampa last week. Out of the five schools she is focused on, that one seems to be the one she is really interested in attending. And this guy cracks me up. He doesn't curse or degrade women, he is just really damn funny.
Went to the greenhouse coop. It is not heated and has both end vents open -4 ,-20 wind chill @16 mph 20 degrees in the coop active cooing birds and water with just a thing ice cap I could not have ask for a better test. They have been digging through deep litter to un frozen ground.
This is our last -12 morning for a while. Time to get out the seed starting equipement. Early cool weather plants like brassica, spinach, lettuce, cabbages to start then some herbs and flowers

Our Family and a friend went to a local pancake place that specializes in home made maple syrup. Unlimited buckwheat pancakes with what ever else you may want. Ham ,eggs, sausage, bacon, or even burgers. Out in the middle of know where and a wait time in a 200ft line outside. So much fun for our birthday party of 9 this morning
ond, I would go somewhere else. Wife and friends went to Gatlinburg, TN a few years ago. Some just had to eat at Paula Deen's. Two hour wait and wife said the food wasn't that great, either.
Actually the food was great and the service exceptional. These are seasonal places open only at the start of tapping till the end. They then close down. One of the best things was driving through Keeney swamp state forest. It looks like the perfect scouting area for deer and or turkey hunting. 2,408 acres that borders Keeney Swamp wild life management area of 708 acres. Pines bogs, swamps and ponds amongst balsam firs and hard woods.
Too many restaurants to choose from. Correction: Paula Deen's is in Pigeon Forge, not G'burg. Too many quality restaurants in either one. One is the old time diner at the corner of US 321 from Townsend and the main street in PF. PD's is mainly comfort food which I get at home. Represented the company of a fellow who was an amateur chef. When he traveled, he looked for places that served things he didn't fix at home.
These little places are a northern " mapling" thing. We have one that is between us and our sons place that isn't opened yet and I know of at least one other across the valley about the same hours distance away as the one we went to is. Maple syrup is a big thing in this area. Locals around our place tap their trees and produce their own syrup. I've never used enough syrup to investing equipement or the time to do my own. Beside we usually have someone giving us a bottle or two. The woods around here are strung with blue hosing and buckets, milk jugs hang off the sides of trees. Also a big increase of bear sightings for they love maple season as they crawl out of dens after a long cold winter. That and bee hives. Though solar fencing has stunted those treats over the years.
ond, saw a YouTube video of a black bear's intent to raid a chicken coop. He was surprised at the electric fence! Went vegan, I think.
Lol...today my daughter was up for a run with the pups out back Of course I'm on full in snow foot print alert. Crazy big buck prints. Then daughter found bear tracks 300ft directly behind the house. My chickens are in a 7ft chain link fenced enclosure, so far so good. We did have a neighbor that had a bear tear up his wooden coop that was right near his house with dogs going nuts. The damage surprised me.
We've been living with them for years, they have been good nieghbors thus far. We also have rodents alarms that go off every 3 mins ppl say those don't work, though so far they have for us no more engine nests in equipment and all fox and rodent snow prints taken perimeter detours .
Great to see flowers I shoveled igloo snow for 4 hrs yesterday. My propane was able to be delivered and the kids visited. I woke upto another 4"'s of snow. Best things it's light and fluffy for this next shoveling
OK ok, winters almost over and it's been snowy and cold. So far so good, as to my being able to get the shoveling done. That's said, enough is enough!!!!!! 4" yesterday 2" today and the 2" about killed me, it did break my shovel. It was akin to shoveling and throwing 12" x16" green oak logs I was out 4 1/2 hrs but got both drives done. Headed for a Epsom salts bath after I grab a bite to eat.
