My son has been playing nose tackle on the JV team this season. He has been struggling a little this season, while he is tall, he is also lanky and not built like a lineman. I have been telling him all year, that if he can get off the ball quickly, he can be in the backfield before the O-line can block him. Last night, he finally did. He ended the last minute drive of the other team, getting through the line untouched, sacking the QB right as he was trying to hand off to the RB. A half step faster, and my son would have been able to steal the hand off. It was 3rd down and he forced the punt with 14 seconds left in the game. They won 12-6.

.8 mile walk to my south stand on our 47 acres. On my way out and I stood and watched the moon for a good 5 minutes (probably 10) just listening. What a life we live and what a blessing hunting gives us to get away from actual life.

My rut stand is exactly to the bottom right of that moon and I’m going to kill a big buck from it this year. Manifest it.

I drove over to Oshkosh yesterday to visit my uncle. He is dying of dementia among other ailments. I was reluctant to go because what do you say to somebody that knows they are dying. It was a good day spent a couple hours just chatting, his wife said it was one of his better days. Going back to see him again this morning it's his birthday. It is really going to suck when I leave him this morning because I know chances are I will never see him alive again. I am so happy that I took the time and nutted up to go see him, the opportunity to tell them what they meant to you, you love them is closure but you get to say it.

Drove from Oshkosh to East Peoria IL. You know you are driving thru big buck country when you see road kill deer and the antlers are sawed off. Saw 3 like that.

Gosh sometimes you tube shows value. I'll never go and it's something I'd love, but I can at least get to view it through anothers lens. Wild!

My middle son, the PA has been working night shifts in organ transplants.

    1) Past couple months got engaged.

Wisely decided he will probably not want to be working nights, but would need to make a move or job change to get on a day schedule. Through a crazy backstory, my oldest has introduced him a few years ago, when he was getting his clinical hours to a surgeon…just happens to be a crazy good (and highly regarded) surgeon that specialized in surgical oncology (head and neck). Who has an opening for a PA.

    2) son has interview and this was the Dr’s opener: “well you’ve already got the job in my eyes so what do you want to know from me”

Son may take a bit of a pay cut to move to days, but would stay at the same hospital that’s paying down his med school debt and not have to move…

I went to bed last night, I fell asleep fast and did not wake up till my alarm went off. This never happens.

The best D lineman we had in highschool was also our 160lb running back. I am not kidding you. He would terrorize the OL.

Last night was the last game of the JV season. He went off last night, three sacks, 7 total tackles and almost had an INT on the last defensive play of the game when he dropped back in coverage on a LB blitz. He said he is done playing football because he didn't get enough playing time to justify the time commitment. If he sticks with it, fine it is his decision. But, I am quietly hopeful that he will grow into his feet by next fall and decide to play at least one more year. He has the potential and athletic ability, just needs to grow into his body before he will get a lot of playing time on varsity.

That is the key, just to keep grinding. None of us know how much we will grow size wise or athletically. Heck, we had a kid in college that was lightly recruited. Something happened between when he was 18 and 20 that made him as athletic as nearly any DB in the country, over all colleges. Next thing we knew, he was drafted and spent a career in the nfl.

My son starts new medication today. Trials have show it really helps to increase energy and reduce inflammation. I pray this helps him.

My wife bought a new CBD oil she put on my lower spine, 8 hours uninterrupted sleep. Like winning a sleep lottery I do not recall the last time I slept thru the night, it has to be many years.
