I moved back to NC to be closer to my parents. Dad has Parkinson and mom is basically wheel chair bound and they just can't do a whole lot. My dad also lost vision in his left eye from some weird virus. Today I had all day mostly and went down to their place to work on whatever they needed. Weed eating took about an hour and I also dropped a big poplar behind their parking garage. Felt good to knock some stuff out for them. And I'm still a pretty dang good tree guy. Lol. I just want them to not worry about a damn thing. They were awesome parents when I was coming up and I owe them a lot more than just yard work. Anyway....just wanted to share.

You will always be glad you moved back to help them out. Just the sxtra time spent with them verses being far away. While I only lived 60 miles from my mom and have a time consuming job... I really enjoyed helping her out after dad passed away every chance I got. She always felt bad that the little free time I had was spent helping her. I didn't regret one second of it. The wife really enjoyed it too. She passed away a year and a half ago. I really miss her and miss the time I got to spend with her. Would love to have that back!!!!!

    So great job!!

Biggest regret when a parent passes I wish I would have spent more time I wish I would have called more. The last conversation I had with my mom was she did not mean to dial me and she would call later, she never called back she fell that afternoon and pretty much died on her bedroom floor after a fall.

Thats great man. Im dealing with my dads health issues right now as well. Chronic OCPD after throat cancer, lung cancer, and pancreatitis in the last 10 years. Poor guy has had a rough go but you wont hear him complain except about the hospitals . Sad thing is he did it right and was able to retire at 58 and by 60 his bad luck started. Didnt even get to really enjoy retirement.

new pup is doing great! Shes a natural. Comes from 10 generations of master hunt champ genetics on both sides. The best part is my son is taking a big interest in her. He likes to help me work with her and helps me a lot with wearing her out! So happy for him. I think every kid should get to experience a puppy.

My oldest ,27, Son just settled on his 1st house! Wife and I moved him up there last year, he found his dream job, his girlfriend moved up there from the South, he told her she will go on the deed if she makes it thru the winter, SC to VT hates the cold. Our daughter just renewed her lease and is trying to buy the townhouse she's renting. Told them both, wife and I are too old to be moving them anymore! But what a great feeling that went through our brains after he called from settlement, very proud of both of them. Will be making the 6 hour ride next week with a car full of tools to help fix things, but loving every minute.
And finishing my own house renovation, at least this latest project... light at end of tunnel is in sight... maybe able to retire in 3 yrs!!

I took today off, just to avoid traffic on the freeway. Told the HR guy short notice but I am taking it. He said to me you have enough vacation to take every Thursday and Friday off the rest of the year. I said that and my signature on your paycheck will make certain I do not use half of it.

Nice, my son got in his first sack last night. He and the other linebacker took the QB down. On the next play he had a key block on a pick 6. They won 8-0. Not bad for a 7th grade game.

I still get texts from the young QB I coached at that age. I let him call his own plays when we were up by 14

Good call. Traffic on 35E N was brutal this afternoon. No choice. Had to get a deaf student back to Stacy.

But, it's Friday and a long weekend! No plans to drive ANYWHERE. Gonna hide in the AC to avoid the nasty temps. Except to throw something on the grill. Plenty of beer to keep me hydrated. Lol.

Dry aged beef! FINALLY, the only place within hours of here had some on a day i could get there.

That was last weekend. We had steak and scallops for our pre- anniversary. Awesome.

Can't say the same for our real anniversary dinner tonight. I see why the place we ate is for sale....never again.

Been looking and searching for a lot to put a pole barn on close to my house. Yesterday I talked to the neighbor, I was told he would never sell his lot in town. I asked him if he would ever consider selling he said sure and gave me his price. My wife is surprisingly supportive, I am going to have a shop. A place to work on my boats.

That feeling you get after putting up a new stand location, knowing it's going to be a producer

Finally, after 15 years...a hot shower.

I don't have running water at my cabin so when I'm here, I have to drive to a friend's place 2 miles away to shower up which is no big deal.
I got a free 7x8 all stell shed a few weeks ago. Very well built.
Was planning g on using it for just hanging my hunting cloths but had a brainstorm.
Seen a youtube channel once about a portable propane shower unit.
Serceched into it and, I now have one hooked up. 20230903_124049.jpg 20230903_124049.jpg 20230903_124043.jpg 20230903_124014.jpg Works great,

Even put a woodstove in it.
12 v pump sucks water from a 5 gallon bucket into the heater. Instant hot water.
    I'm giddy over this.
