I spent my day like a 3-1/2 year old, had a squirt gun fight, ran thru the sprinkler, caught sunnies and threw them in the wading pool. I had pancakes and bacon and mac and cheese and then I took a nap on the bunk beds in my grandson's bedroom. We got up and played on the sand pile, caught some more fish, and had ice cream sandwiches on the pontoon, before Mom got there then pizza for supper. It was a great day.
Thank you when I look at my grandsons at the lake it reminds me why I get up and go to work every day. I can not wait till they are teens and bring their friends to the lake like my son does. My legacy is this place and I love to see people enjoy it. There is nothing better as a Minnesotan to have a place your family calls the lake.
Looking back, I can't believe I never thought of this? I don't have power at my cabin other then 2 generators and a small solar panel. Came last Friday eve, seen the HOT forecasts and just cringed. Light bulb came on and I thought, (small window airconditioner) DUH!. I Hate going into big towns but went into Fargo ND early Sat morning and bought one. Got it mounted and wow, it's awesome. One of those moments when you think.. "WTF" did I not think of this before.
Got up this morning watching the sun come up, let the dogs out then gave them breakfast. The Chihuahua eats her breakfast of soft food seperate from the other dogs in the kitchen. Pita is eating her food and she stops and cocks her head and has her low growl going and she goes to the slider and is growling has her tail going she wants out. I open the door and she bolts there is a big old female snapper in the yard headed back to the water after laying eggs. It was funny to watch turtle hissed at her she does not tolorate crap talking back she was pissed, till the snapper just tucked then she was livid, called her off. Old chihuahua still thinks she is a world beater.
Funny you mentioned that ,hubby came home from work yesterday and said the snapper are out laying eggs he was avoiding them crossing the roads onthe way to work.
Next week taking a day to meet with old fire friends for dinner. Going to be epic, but undercover no outside guests. Rushmore of Minnesota wildland fire, all pretty much retired. The wildfire accademy is in town and they teach classes on inclusion and feelings in fire. Are you kidding me it is a gutteral filthy dangerous job, no time for feelings sugar tit. Anyway I will be there with my old buds and talking shat and telling stories, we keep talking about writing a book but we need the statute of limitations to kick in first.
Youngest daughter is here for the summer. 2 out of the 3 under my roof again for a while. Youngest is 12 and I'm preparing for this to be the last summer before she has friends and sports to keep her in missouri more and more. Sigh.
My wife planned a great birthday party for my 40th on Friday. Started off with homemade cinnamon rolls and presents, ended with a surprise party at a retro video game arcade.
Yes, two giant pans of banana pudding. Only one was eaten at the party, I spent the rest of the weekend eating the second one.
Happy Birthday ! My Daughter turned 40 last month. No party but her college girlfreibds from across the country came in for a weekend of girl fun. That would be hitting the wine trail and lots of good food
