Wife and I were going to watch the boys Saturday because the daughter works Saturday morning. I suggested that we bring the boys to the lake and she could get stuff done after work and then come out for Mom's birthday dinner. Turns out they have calf work to do Saturday so it works out perfect the son in law will drop the boys off in the morning. Got a text that my son is coming up too. Love days like that.

Forgot how much I enjoy a live baseball game. I will have to make an effort to watch some town ball teams.

Helping the wife around the house this morning and giving her cr@p. Putting out trail cameras this afternoon. The deer sign is tremendous. Looking forward to the first camera pull. Calling one of the nephews to give him cr@p and telling him about all the deer sign. He is coming up to bow hunt with me this fall/winter. Great young man !! Calling one of my sisters and my brother tonight to just talk and laugh. This has been a great day. It was the most relaxing day to unwind even though it was a busy day.

Tomorrow, I find a way to get into a nasty spot for another trail camera. Got a great feeling I am going to find an awesome spot to hunt this fall. It will be a super pinch point for funneling the deer through that area.

Recently spent 4 days in Vegas with the wife, sans children, enjoying some fun in the sun.

Day 1 - Rented a Tesla and drove out to the Grand Canyon. Spent way too much money on tourist trap stuff, but loved every minute of it.
Day 2 - Breakfast at the Peppermill, followed by pool day, dinner at Buddy V's at the Venetian, and then saw Mystere over at TI.
Day 3 - Another lazy day at the pool getting fried in the sun, drinking $20 drinks, then dinner at Benihana followed by some more drinks and me losing my ass in a few casinos.
Day 4 - Packed up, checked bags at the bell desk, hit the Peppermill for breakfast again, then hopped around a few casinos, picked up souvenirs for the kids, finally won a few dollars at Planet Hollywood casino, then caught a plane home.

Not a terrible couple of days, if I do say so myself.

We moved to a pretty left leaning school district. Whatever, my kids have relationships with a lot of different types of people.

I was walking the high school yesterday and in the history department hallway they have the names and pictures of every high school student that went into the military. Old pictures dot the walls. I have never seen that before in my life. Seriously impressive and honorable. The pic below represents maybe 5% or less of the pics they have up.

Great post. I don’t think it does anyone in the county any good to foster the mindset that their brand of patriotism is the only brand that has validity. Good reminder.

Got to catch up with a buddy of mine last night. We grew up together and have been good buddies since we were 5 or 6 years old. It was nice to share some stories, laugh a lot and wash down a few beers all while BSing with the owner of the place. I swear we can talk to just about anybody and when you put us together, there will be laughs all around. It sure is nice being close to home again.

So the male loons are pretty much gone, they leave first and congregate on Lake Michigan before they head for the Gulf. Females are 2-3 weeks behind. They leave the juveniles on their own to find their way to the gulf where they live in salt water all winter long. Point is the juveniles are calling all day. I love listening to the loons sing.

I am lucky I get to watch them teach the young to fish just off the end of the dock. Eagles disappeared abandoned the nest but the ospreys have moved in. Otters too it is a clear lake.
