At the very least it will cost them a fortune in lawyer's fees...I hope it drags, out for a LOT of billing hours.
Don't know where this really goes. That said best thing...I made it home.OMG...snow mid calf to mid thigh from house to line 1600ft then into gully and back up a nd over ridge to down hill 1300ft then back up hill to home. A.J. and I took a walk...I lost both dog house blinds...one I know has to be replaced but it's been out 12 yrs. Snow and winds were just to much...some pics.. BTW ...I can still do this at nearly 64...
Well guess who inherited a horse? The brother and sisters didn't want to deal with her. Mom loved that horse so now I have a horse. Was not on my list of things I needed, She is at least 20 years old. She is a sweetheart one moment and devious to downright evil the next moment. Today we brought her here. she was an angel the whole trip. We took a break and went for lunch. We went back to do a little more work on her new place. First thing she did was knock my cap off my head and then look at me like what are you going to do about it. She then walked over to Shane ( boss ) and head butted him. Mom said she was awful for that. This is going to be interesting but I bet mom is looking down and smiling. Thanks mom !!
The nephew got two D2 offers yesterday about a week out from the late signing period. Couple other 1AA schools moved in and want official visits. So proud of this kid after missing his soph and junior years of hs football. To even have a scholarship at any level would be amazing.
She was never broke to ride. Dad took her to a lady that wanted to break her for dad. The horse broke the lady. Arm or a leg, I guess. That ended that. Even if she was broke... there is no way in hell I am riding a horse at 59. I remember what it was like riding them as a kid when your bones didn't break so easy.
My wife had a horse she got when the horse was 6 months old. Because my wife had preterm labor she was on bedrest for months so I took care of the horses. That mare got sent off at 2 to get trained and broke, she came back and would not take the bit when it was time to ride, those two fought for weeks and my wife gave up on the horse. I won a $100 bet that I could ride that mare bareback to the neighbors and back without a saddle or getting bucked off. I would not allow my wife in the barn when I took her out of her stall she was at the neighbors waiting. I rode that mare she walked nice and when I got to the neighbors they mocked me because the whole bridal was not fit right and the bit was not in place. I said well ladies I have it wrong but I have it right with the horse and rode back home to the barn, I am the only person that rode that horse and I am not a cowboy and I have zero interest in riding but I know how to get along with a horse.
Feed it, pet it, brush it and while it is eating grain rub it's legs and pick that ice out of the hooves, once she is good with that find where she likes to be scratched, between the front legs and under the mane on the neck. Once she is cool with that put your face down by her nose and do a exhale out of your mouth and nose right by her nose, she may throw her head at first but she will stop and quit head butting at least you. That exhale says to the horse I understand I am here for you.
Go to the feed mill, they will soon love you get the bags of pine shavings at least 2 bags in the stall, get rubber cow mats if the stall is cement, 12% sweet feed and grass hay, do not give too much feed a 1 coffee can twice a day no more, get a ferrier and a vet. Pay attention to the hooves. Pick the stalls every day and scrape the frozen pee up, a good horse will pee in a corner.
If you have question I am not that far away I would gladly drive up to help you become a horse whisperer. Oh and if you want to ride there is a horse trailer full of tack and saddles. You need wormer too.
The I was a kid a I had a pony his name was smokey, I never rode that SOB home once, as soon as you turned for home he would do the sprint and stop and drop his head, if that didn't work he would run for the trees and use them to take you off, that SOB kicked me, stepped on me, bit me, and was a general a-hole, I still cried when he died.
I've been around horses all my life. I know the tricks to keeping them happy. Trust me this horse will be well taken care of. The wife is actually quite excited about it. We went out today and spent some time with her. Barb was having a great time with her. Which lead to... Tim, you need to do this for her and this for her. I told her one old nag is enough. If you want to come out to see "my" horse, you will remember that !! I made sure I was standing on the other side of the horse so Barb couldn't punch me. See I know all the tricks !!
I just fixed the dent in my truck with a plunger! The very first try it popped that dent out from that deer's head. My son and I were laughing our heads off.
As I was out scouting deep in the woods a d1 def line coach started texting me. Then got me on the horn with the head coach who started asking me about my nephew. A couple hrs later they offered him his first d1 scholarship. 2 days til signing period starts.
What a crazy story. Nephew signed today to play college ball at my alma mater. The current head coach recruited me 30 yrs ago when he was a position coach at the same school. Incredible. So happy for the kid! Isnt a huge school but it's a public ivy type and that will change the course of his life if he gets a degree.
Found out, my son will be on the team representing Emory University in their quiz bowl at the American Academy of Physician Associates conference...
