I had smoked a turkey yesterday, my wife not a big fan of me smelling smoky... The bird will be consumed tomorrow.
Well I was up at 4:30 this morning, got the pots and pans washed, dishwasher emptied, all the crock pots and roasters put back, all the debris cleaned up so we can do it all again today. Grandsons are coming back over we are going to go ice fishing, and then watch the Packers, sounds like an ideal Christmas to me.
My son made my grandson a cardboard fort up in the loft for christmas, it's huge takes up both bedrooms and all the sitting space, it has lights in it and the topped it off with a nerf gun. I think it is his new favorite thing here.
There are extenuating circumstances... When she was a kid, she was in a house explosion / fire...she likes the smoked meats, just not the smell of smoke.
Santa gave me a millennium aluminum hang on. Now I have to say this isn't "nice" but it was the cherry on top of a great day with family I settle down after everyone was gone and house was clean again. Turn on You tube to the first video being Joe and Jill Biden on a Christmas phone call. The person on phone says Merry Christmas and calls out "LET'S GO BRANDON" You can see the realization on Jill's face, then Joe says " let's go Brandon indeed , I agree" I LMAO ,on top of it I believe it was a main stream news video I truly hope someone told him what he just did...MERRY CHRISTMAS. He's up there watching over us all with a sense of humor!
Did the same yesterday and cleaned up the leftovers this morning. My grandpa loved to cook. More than he liked to hunt. When i was about 8 yrs old he told me it was time to learn his gravy recipe. Best dang sausage pepper gravy ive ever had to this day. Many just like it and probably taste just as good as it, but every time i make and eat it i remember standing on that small stool next to him in the little kitchen of our deer shack on the farm, making this gravy in a big cast iron pan.
Great memories. I'm drooling. We used to cook a lot at deer camp. As we got older, found it was easier to pre-make stuff and just reheat it. I make a batch of sausage gravy for a breakfast meal. From scratch, of course, using our venison breakfast sausage. I cheat and use Pillsbury Grands but, bake a bunch of those and bring some English muffins. Some prefer them. Now, fry up an egg or two. Sunny side up or over easy. Put it on the biscuit or muffin and pour the gravy over. OMG! No matter how you do it, I agree. Nothing better on a cold winter day!
Every year, the instafacetwit pictures of other people make me incredibly grateful that my wife does not make our family do the matching pjs family picture in front of the Christmas tree.
Back when I was a kid I use to do a lot of trapping. It was for fox and muskrats. We didn't have coyotes in the area then. This was close to 30 years ago. It was mostly just me and my older brother. He did most the work and running the lines. But when he was busy, I would run and check the traps. So in last 10 years coyotes have moved in, so I made it a mission to trap one on my own land. I've been running 2 traps for a week and have caught 3 foxes so far! It's ignited a fire and a passion in me that I haven't had since I was a kid. Now my kids are helping me set them. Feels good that I still can do it and trick these crafty critters. I'm going to keep going til I get my coyote for the wall. I have been releasing the fox, all but 1 that had mange. This was #3 of year, from this morning. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
Tis the season! (foxes are so pretty!) My husband caught his very first fisher today. We're allowed one tag only...he put the trap out Saturday and caught it over night. He's over the moon. I think it'll be his fire to get back to trapping, too.
Says the guy who does special poses with the deer he killed. I have a feeling it is you that wanted the PJ Family Christmas pictures and your wife that said NO to that one. :P
