Take potatoes cut them up, add carrots, onions and 1/2 a stick of butter in a big pan with the lid on. Let them simmer on medium heat stirring occasionally for a half hour then add mushrooms and the other half a stick of butter on top. Cook till tender scoop it into a bowl with a strainer spoon put parm on top. Call them fish potatoes because when I cook fish those potatoes and my coleslaw is on the menu along with Bush Steak House beans. I do not batter fry fish I griddle with bread crumbs and flour and again butter.

My Mom's Mom my grandma Honey had butter in every one of her recipes, family tradition, I added bacon and bacon grease to the mix. I sure wish I could duplicate her potatoe dumpling recipe, I even have her old potato ricer and I can't match the consistency.

We are not fans of heat and love snow. Hate people and love wilderness.

Hope you don't love daylight. Fairbanks is a crap hole and the trees are stunted.

Seems like one of the guys on here (maybe it was Rokslide) moved up that way a few years ago.

Good luck! ...secretly I'm jealous for hunting opps and my Southern wife wouldn't consider AK.

It seems we’ve had members from Alaska on here. Kodiakarcher was from Anchorage.

I can’t think of others off the top of my head.

I don’t think I could live in a place where I’d have to carry light artillery to protect myself from large carnivores.

10mm isn't in the light artillery camp, though, right?

It might be borderline, but my 45-70 would suffice.

I’d probably carry both just to bowhunt there.

Tried to convince my wife to do the same, found some cool properties around Homer and she wasn't having it. Still trying to figure out a way to have a summer home there. Winter in Central America and summer in Alaska sounds a whole lot better than sticking around Oklahoma all year.

Every single hunting show from the there has mentioned the bugs, nasty biting bugs...I'm so over bugs I want to move to.a place without them.

Youngest(13) has 2 friends over and they are city kids. They have spent the last 2.5 hrs riding wheelers at the house. I only have 15 acres so I would get bored quick but they are having the time of their lives. I had to show them how to drive.

Just found out I probably dont need back surgery. My discs are bulging but not torn. Doc put me on meds that are numbing the pain and i start first round of injections next week. Im also in process of moving. Just bought this house which gives us more space and im buying another half acre behind me which will give me just shy of an acre. 8D40381D-4253-4CE5-8795-0A1E05913156.jpeg

Blew up a sweet custom stick bow Tues night, get home last night and the GF has bought me a new recurve. She knew I wanted to bear hunt with trad gear this year and none of my other stick bows I deem heavy enough.

So... I now am in the ILF world. lol That's fun, and she made sure to point out my new bow has a warranty so if I destroy this one I can get new limbs :) silly girls....

I've had a pretty chitty past week and knowing she spent her entire day driving / calling to EVERY archery chop within 150 miles to find something I could use and be happy to own sure made all that stress melt away.

She knows I would love to own a Black Widow, so she searched for something she felt was along the same lines. All things considered I think she did GREAT and I am looking forward to wearing this thing out while I save for that BW.

Neglected to take any pics so here is a link to what she picked up.

Sounds like a keeper, hell I can't get my wife to drive to St Cloud to get a new tube for this weekend, she is off all summer not like she is busy.

So this sounds really vain, believe me I'm the least vain person around. I cut my own hair and I'm still wearing shirts literally 5 sizes bigger than what I am right now. This because unlike pants they don't fall off.
To that I haven't been out since the last 5# loss until yesterday. I had 3 people ,2 I know comment on how good I'm looking. Then one person that is a stranger to me, must have seen me around called out " You look fabulous!"
Apparently 5#'s at this stage makes a difference.j
I have to say even though it was a blast oven in town and the car air was on max, my clothes were stuck to me and I was soaked. That put a pep in my step.
