The last business trip of the year.

By EOY, we should be debt free.

My daughter just got her first acceptance letter. She is 1 for 1 and it was her first choice school. I think I'm more excited then her.

My wife has been a stay-at-home mom the last 2 and 1/2 years since our toddler was born. She is an elementary teacher when she works. That last few month's she has been tutoring the son of one of her high school friends. The boy's dad was laid off at the end of November. My 8 year-old-son wanted to help their family. He came up with idea of selling cookies and lemonade at a stand during his chess tournament this past Saturday. In between playing chess matches, he worked the stand. My son made $332 on Saturday. Last night, he gave the boy's dad a prepaid visa gift card for $332. I am incredibly proud of my son, his hard work ethic, and his kindness and generosity.

Spent the day up at the daughters house today because she got her wisdom teeth pulled yesterday and her husband had to work today so the wife and I went up. Sorry to tarnish my reputation as a red ass I spent the afternoon with my grandson napping on my lap while my wife and daughter watched the british bake off show. I did not change a diaper but he took two naps while I held him. Seems like yesterday I was holding his mom.

Aldo Leopold said many years ago that when the youth believe heat comes from the furnace and breakfast comes from a grocery store the country is in danger.

Thanks! If there is one drawback to my wife staying home, its that we do not always have the financial flexibility to help in situations like this. We had already made charitable contributions for the month before for we found out about this family's situation. But, we were thrilled and totally supportive of his efforts when he came up with the idea.

I will never regret the decision for my wife stay home with the kids, oh sure there were lean times but hard to argue with the results.

sota, we might disagree on carp but we have something in common as I note here. I have nine grandkids- seven here in town. It seems that since 2003, life and $$$ revolve around the grandkids. My wife stayed at home until 1989 when the kids were in school. She was in preschool daycare for a total of 32 years.Wouldn't trade that time at home for anything.

I completely agree and have no regrets either. It is the best decision we have made for our family.

Had 2 things I wanted to get done today, clean out the stove and defrost the chest freezer in the shop. Stove is done the freezer is empty and thawing. My wife is at the mother in laws baking christmas cookies today and there are 3 football games on today, 3 tomorrow and the big one on Monday.

Funny how life is my kids are raised and launched the stress to cover the bill is gone, like a breath of fresh air. Had all the tests I am not going to have a heart attack or a stroke, no issues in my brain. It is like coming above water for a breath of air after many years of pressure to provide. I am almost mellow now, if I could just sleep a few more hours a night, 2020 hips will be replaced. Men and husbands there is light at the end of the tunnel. Never give up.
