Our neighbor, a divorced woman who's children are all married and moved out of the house, was in a bad accident. She was hit head-on on her way to work at 6:30 am on New Years Eve. She is not fully recovered and still undergoing therapy. My wife and I are helping her out with her yard work. We volunteered and were not asked. My wife and I already take care of our own two 3 acre lawns etc, and now her 3+ acre lawn/woods. My wife cuts the grass and trimmed all her trees. I dug out 9 tree stumps with my backhoe and sprayed the weeds growing in her gravel driveway. The mowing has slowed due to the drought we have going on. So that helps a bit. She is so thankful and keeps saying she'll never be able to repay us. We tell her not to worry, her appreciation is enough for us. It feels good to help one who is in need. Besides.......... she gave us some wine and strawberry/ruhbarb cake!
Perc test came back - no issues. Close on 6/30 on a parcel for our, hopefully, future home site /retirement place.
Finally got the cash for the jon boat I sold, I gave my brother a good deal a 1448 with a prop tunnel hull and a trailer for $1000. I loved that boat on the river I could go thru under 12" of water even with 2 people in it.
Got up this morning, a beautiful clear morning kinda cool. I grabbed a PBR hard coffee and took the boat out for a ride my blood pressure has to be as low as it is going to get.
Every day I drive by the fields and see how bad it is, their are lots of irrigators up here but mostly closer to the river.
We got 4 tenths of an inch and it is about done here. Could have used a lot more but better then nothing. It is baby bird season and Buddy and Atticus are having the best time of their life now slaughtering the baby sparrows and purple grackles. Feel sorry for them but we don't need more house sparrows or purple grackles. Just hope the baby finches survive. We never have a mouse problem with those two killers.
Slow afternoon yesterday but I didnt see another person on that half mile stretch. Caught 4 including one decent 2lber. Had a couple nice gar snap at my top water near dark. Could smell someone cooking in the distance and heard nothing but the sound of the woods and water for hours.
My wife and kids nailed it with the Father’s Day gift this year. Yes, it is a personalized framed full size poster and it is hanging on my bedroom wall with my wife’s approval.
A few days ago I needed a square drive bit to remove a screw. I knew I had one in a bin. Dumped out the bin and first one I grabbed was the one I needed. Probably 200 bits in that bin.
Yeah. That what we prepare them for... Though we don't, well prepare, ourselves. 60% of mine have already left the nest, with my youngest headed off, in a couple months, to finish her last year of college, as last year was almost entirely virtual.
