So my dad would like a map of our farm that we can put on the wall to better point out stand and camera locations and hunting strategy. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to get one of these maps made? If you have one, how big should I get. Any other recommendations would be appreciated.
Nat Geo stores used to have a map kiosk in the stores, not laminated but printed on a water proof tyvek type of paper.
you can google earth the area you want, copy the screen, open it in another program like Microsoft paint. crop it down to the area you want. Then save it on a flash drive as a TIF file Go into your nearest Kinkos or Copyworks and ask them to print it and laminate it. Total cost should be around $10.00
I would like to have a large map probably 2 x 3 feet or larger. Would they be able to do that? Also what would the quality be like I wonder?
Yes, they can do that. Quality might be the only issue. If you have a locally owned copy shop near you (not kinkos) go in and talk to them. The Graphic Design department is normally happy to help you. Might cost a bit more but they will get you a nice big print in good quality. Only issue might be the size of their lamination machine. 24" wide is standard for shops like that. the other option is to print a TOPO map instead of satellite image. I worked for a place like Kinko's (only locally owned) for years and we did this stuff all the time.
Our County Offices has areal photos/maps, up to 3'x3', if my brain is working. I forget what department - Real Land Office? GIS? You could ask at the County Clerk's office. I bet they know. Office Max/Office Depot laminates.
You can save a piece of Google maps for offline use. This would be better resolution than taking a screen shot. Also anyone who uses google maps alot or hunts/fish/camp where data is tough to get you will still be able to pull it up and see it. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

We've got a large scale laminating machine at work. I just saved a screenshot of what I wanted on my map from Google Earth and then laminated it. It's right around that 2x3' size.
I called the county GIS contact and gave them the property numbers. They printed (2'x2') it for $4 and sent it to me. I put it in a cheap frame. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
