Anyone have suggestions for a good oil to use on a release? I'm assuming something that doesn't collect dirt easily, but I don't know which would be the best to use. I am mechanically illiterate. Thanks for the help.

There may be better, like a scentless lithium grease or the like, but I had a Scott Wildcat sticking on me a couple years ago and I called up Adam at Scott and asked his opinion.

I put a drop of Household 3-in-1 oil on it and it worked like a charm. If you're exceptionally anal, you may want to do that a month or so before the season due to any lingering smells, but I'd bet that one drop would dissipate pretty quickly scent-wise.

I've used Tri-Flow with good results.

I'd user mineral oil if I hunted with it. Mineral oil doesn't smell like petroleum products will.

I wouldn't use anything liquid because of the freeze factor. I use a dry graphite powder in mine... solves the scent issue too.

I just use dirty oil from my last oil change in my pickup.
