so today the rut snapped in where im at for sure. last night i let my neighbor hunt the area where i normally do cause i was going to another property and he saw what he said was a 170" 12 point but i was highly skeptical because i have seen some monsters that could score that high where i hunt but only once or twice and it was when i was spotting. also he is new to hunting and i figured its just an average 8 point and his imagination got the best of him. well after checking what the wind was in the morning i decided id give the stand a shot because i havent hunted it in over a week.

i look down from my phone at 640 this morning and could vaguely make out the silouette of a deer. i havent seen a doe from this stand all season so my inclination right off the bat was that it was a good buck, also because the body was huge. he was at 25 yards smeling my estrous and when he turned to walk away i saw about a 5 X 5 foot section that i thought was the powerline i was hunting move with his head and i saw it was his rack. i said to myself "that is a giant" and by far the biggest buck ive ever seen from the tree but couldnt shoot him cause it was too dark so he will live to die another day. he ventured away from me along the powerline as the sun finally arose and sure enough i counted 12 points so it deffinately was the same buck my neighbor had seen the night before.

After i left my morning hunt all i could think about is the 12 point i saw in the morning and how he was seen by my stand the past two sits there so i figured i better be in the early for the evening hunt. i got home from classes and got myself pumped up by watching this weeks episode of bowhunt or die :). after that i got in my stand sometime around 4. no sooner did i sit down i saw a doe hauling butt over the hilltop infront of me and she stopped and looked behind her so i knew a buck would be coming. after her i counted 5 bucks only one was a shooter probably a 120" 8 point which isnt huge but id take it at this point in the season. then a minuet after they passed i saw a big body walking the hill top. surely it wasnt another monster. i brought up my range finder to see an easy 150" 10 point dogging a doe all around the field ahead of me. i grunted at him and he turned and came towards me only to bed about 80 yards away and never to be seen the rest of the night.

it was quiet the rest of the afternoon until i saw two does leave their beds in the early evening. soon after they got up i saw another rack as he followed them once more away from my stand instead of to it. he was a solid 9 pointer i would say scored a 140". Then at exactly 6:10 pm eastern time i saw him. a big bodied deer posturing up in the center of this field. i automatically knew by the way he was standing he was a monster. not to forget the rack that looked like a wicker basket sitting between his ears. I got my range finder again and counted till i got to 12 solid points again. it was the same buck

he dogged does in front of me the whole evening never once acting like he would come in so i waited till about 15 minuets after dark to climb down and left the woods shaking like a leaf. im used to seeing an average PA 100" deer but i had just seen the three biggest buck i have ever seen from a tree all in the same night?!! all i can say is im dieing to get back in there tomorrrow!!

Holy moly, that sounds exciting. I get pumped just watching one deer come into shooting range. Let alone 24. GET OUT THERE AND TAKE ONE.

Sounds like you are covered up in bucks. I've seen only three all season.
