i know you guys are gonna tell me its all personal choice. but i just want to hear what the best low poundage broadhead is that you have used. and why you used it. my girlfriend just bought a mathews passion, and is only pulling 35lbs. so im looking at either some 85 grain thunderheads or muzzy phantoms.

Don't know about either of those but, make sure they are a really sharp cut on contact head. A chisel point will get it done but, a razor sharp coc blade will get it done better. Probably a 2 blade or three would be the best way to go with it. With a 2 blade cut on contact there is way less resistance when it enters a deer. This means much deeper penetration. I believe I would stick with a 100gr head though. I personally have shot 85gr broadheads and they seem to be less accurate at a lower poundage. To me it seem the slower the arrow is traveling the more tip weight you need to get the arrow to straighten out in a shorter distance. Thats what I noticed last season when my brother was shooting around 45lbs and he tried out some 85gr. It didn't take much comparative shooting to notice the difference. Thats just my 2 cents though.

Fixed blade for sure, I'd go with a Muzzy.

shes only had it for about a week. so im thinkin by season she will be able to pull around 40-45? i have also looked at the montecs and am very interested in them. the only thing is that you can get 6 thunderheads with replacable baldes for the same price as 3 montecs.

I resharpen the Montecs as needed with a broad head sharpener. Thunderheads area really good broad head also can't go wrong either way :tu:

The montec was on the list this year and I do like them a lot. Should be a good choice.

    Sharp--super sharp

Cut on contact, NOT a chisel point like a Muzzy

Correct length/width taper so the broadhead slices without too much friction/resistance

    Good FOC to help penetration

    2 blade broadhead preferably

I've killed almost all of my deer and a half dozen hogs with a muzzy 3-blade. Even with my bow set at 40lb pounds, the penetration is still outstanding.

Personally I don't montecs and I would choose Thunderheads or Muzzys over them any day.
