out of all of the boots you guys have ever purchased. which ones would you say were worth every penny and never let you down. i have tryed every pair out there just about and the only boot i have seen that seems to last is the muck boots. which ones do you guys prefer.
i have a pair of alphas for the early season and my wife told me my new muck boots just came in so i hope they live up to all the good reviews i have read
I have an assortment of Danner leather and Lacrosse rubber boots. They all serve their purposes pretty well for me. I wanted to try Mucks this year (bought Alpha Burley instead) but my foot seems to be in between their sizes. If they had 1/2 sizes I probably would have ended up with a pair.
Mukluks .... So comfortable, unequalled silence, unmatched for stalking, plus if you add a pair of toe warmers, they'll keep you in the stand @ -20 degrees... I won't wear another pair hunting until these wear out, same pair going on 15 years now and still no end in sight. Another added benefit, is that the treading doesn't hold snow, so you avoid the snow squeak in your stand. I have an old pair of the Arctics, but my brother just got a pair of the Camuks last year and loves them.
Muck boots are definitely the way to go, and at a pretty fair price for the quality, my feildblazers ran only 75 bucks.
I use leather Danners mostly but thinking on a rubber boot. I want to feel hardcore like the rest of you. Any particular Muck boot? Do they really seem better than Lacrosse?
I think this would be more opinion than anything. A lot of people seem to like both brands. I choose lacrosse as it just felt more comfortable on my foot and I found a good deal on them. I think the best thing to do is to find a store which carries both and try them on. I don't think you can go wrong with either choice IMO.
Good to know, I have not been on the market for boots so I didn't know if there was something special with the Muck boot.
I have Danner Pronghorns (1000 gram) and I like them for the most part but they seem to leak in very wet conditions. I will be hunting some swampy, wet terrian this fall at times so I wanted a taller 100% waterproof boot for those occasions. But, my Danners will still have their place in certian situations. I think my Lacrosse will work great for Ice fishing too. I bought both insulated and uninsulated versions.
when i bought my mucks, i was looking for two things....first they had to be warm, and they had to keep my feet dry, my feet tend to sweat alot and then comes sweat shortly comes cold, but my mucks seemed to eleminate those problems
For rubber boots, I love my Mucks as well. For a leather boot, nothing I have worn compares to Meindels.....and I've gone through a lot of boots.
wow , seems like we all agree that if your in the market for a great pair of boots this year. you cant go wrong with a pair of mucks.......there worth every penny trust me,
My Danner Pronghorns, while comfortable SUCK at the waterproofing category. That leaves My still un field tested Kenetrek leather boots (which I am not worried about in the least) I have a pair of lacrosse un insulated alpha burlys that lasted 3 years but tore them on barbed wire this past year, and can't seem to patch it right. If/when I buy new waterproof "rubber boots", it'll be mucks. Tried em on, loved em, just didn't see the need to fork out that much coin yet.
I bought a pair of Irish Sitter Grizzly in the Realtree AP pattern and they are by far the best boots I have ever owned.
