Looking for advice as to what hang on packs well with Muddy Sticks. My main desires are packabilty and mobility. I can't be dragging a 45lb anchor around as I may be doing a ton of walking.

Do Lone Wolf stands pack well with Muddy Sticks??

And whats wrong with Muddy stands? I like'm. They are comparible in weight and size. I have both and each one has features I like and dislike. For the value I would go with a Muddy Hunter / Hunter Pro over a Alpha II / Assult.

I just wish Muddy stuff was made in the U.S.A...... At least it wasn't last time I checked.

Lone wolf. That's the setup I use.

Get yourself a single ratchet strap (not a cam-buckle but a ratchet strap) and strap the sticks to back of the stand. Done.

Doesn't matter what kind of sticks or stand you have - a simple ratchet strap will securely hold most anything. Muddy sticks and lone wolf sticks simply pack better against themselves.

I sometimes pack in a Gorilla Hunter Pro (old style - 15lb steel hang-on) and three 32" steel sticks. The whole package is heavy (32lbs) but it was cheap (less than $100) and a single ratchet strap holds everything securely.

Only thing to remember with the ratchet strap is to pop it loose very carefully since it can make noise.

I will add that I carry a lot of sticks as I like to be able to sit with the gods. I quit packing my sticks on my stand after the first year. There is too much weight hanging off your back out away from your body. Like a fat kid and a skinny kid on a teeter totter. :) I made a sling for mine and carry them over my shoulder.

Atlas, is going out of state for a hunt to ohio. Atlas owns 4 muddy sticks already. He wants to know if his sticks will pack securly to a LW hang on or if he is better off with another stand such as the Muddy stand.

He wants secure and quiet, not some hacked together job.

When I was using Muddy sticks, I was able to pack them on a Loggy Bayou Predator Pro. They aren't made anymore, but if you look around you may be able to find them for cheap on closeout, that's how I got mine. They are VERY similar to the Muddy stands.

AKA They are Muddy Stands. haha

I can't read into the original post to see if there is an underlying reason why he doesn't use a Muddy or Lone Wolf stand, the two notorious mobile setup stands?

I don't care what stand I end up with.......I want the best for what I need. Buckeye nailed it. I own Muddy sticks already and want to know if they pack well with a Lone Wolf stand. If not I will buy a Muddy stand or Lone Wolf sticks and an assault. Cost is not a concern. I just don't want my gear holding me back on this trip.

    Thanks guys

Gotcha. Well if money is no concern I honestly think you will be happier with a lone wolf/stick stand combo.

That said, I use 5 muddy sticks and a loggy bayou pro stand (same as the aluminum stand now offered by Muddy) and love it! I think the muddy stand will be more comfortable than the LW because of the cushion, but neither will be cozy like a climber can be.

If you want a LW and are only worried about whether the sticks will pack well with it, you can go ahead and buy it. I've found the easiest way to pack sticks is to not stack them on the stand in the first place, but to lay the stack of sticks sideways on the stand and hold it down with the ratchet I later use on the stand in the tree. The sticks are rock solid then, and don't stick a lot farther out from your back to snag branches.

I have the LW stand and leverage sticks. I think it's the best set up for light weight.
