I recently was able to purchase some Easton raw carbon arrow shafts for $9 a dozen at auction from a local bow shop closing its doors. Needless to say I have no experience at building my own arrows but have always been interested in doing so. I've been looking at fletching jigs and found two models that I believe will be both easy to operate and almost fool proof. I was hoping someone would have some experience with these models and could tell me which one to go with. I'm going to be fletching 2" blazers and want to helical the vanes. Model #1: Arizona Rim E-Z Fletch Mini Model #2: Bohning Helix Tower Fletching Jig Thanks ahead of time for your advice.
For what's its worth I have a e-z mini and also a couple blitzs ....for helical on smaller vanes the mini gets the nod as it puts a sick helical on them. It really works well.
The only thing that bothers me about the mini is the lack of a base... I have 50 dozen or so arrows I'm looking at fletching some for personal use and some to resell. Sent from my LG-E980 using Tapatalk
The lack of a base is a non issue once you use it a few times. In fact I think it makes it even easier to use because of it.
50 Dozen? Get a some Bitzenbergers and just keep going down the line. Also you may be doing Blazers now but I would plan on being able to do other vanes too. Maybe next year you will want to use Flex-Fletch. If you are selling some I would guess not all people want the Blazers. If I was buying from you, I would not want blazers. I have had a Biltz for over 30 years and have used dozens of different fletching (from feathers to Blazers) with no issues. Have fun anyway.
I would use those but being a noob, I think I would get frustrated trying to set them up and get them going. I'm looking for something simple that I can get out and sit at my dining room table and fletch a 1/2 dozen or so a night. Sent from my LG-E980 using Tapatalk
I use a Bohning Helix Tower also, I can fletch arrows pretty quick, and I find it hard to mess up! Holds the arrow pretty well to
I bought a bitz and used it twice before going back to my Arizona jig. Bought a mini and love it even more.
If you have that many to do I'd get a couple 3 Bitz. It's pricey but, for what you paid for the arrows you'll make back in 3-4 sets being sold. They work great and are tough. Once you get the hang of it you can fletch nearly a dozen an hour with just one and that's taking your time. That's a whole lot of arrows my friend. If you need some help with fletching all of those PM me. Maybe we could work something out. I love fletching arrows.
I'm prob not going to fletch all 50. The higher end injexions, fmj, and carbon hexx I'm going to leave alone, just because I think the people buying those will probably want to build them they way they want them. Sent from my LG-E980 using Tapatalk
I have an Arizona Rim E-Z Fletch Mini and the Bohning Helix Tower Fletching Jig They both work well but the Bohning Helix Tower Fletching Jig is the tops. Its fast and simple. Hutch
If anyone wants any message me and I will knock some off the price if we do it outside of eBay. Dang ebay fees suck.. Sent from my LG-E980 using Tapatalk
The Bitz are actually very easy to set up and use. You can also put the vanes closer/farther from the nock so the vane doesn't touch your face. I can do about a vane a minute once set up. Zing Primer some vanes - AAE FastSet Gel the vane lightly - apply clamp to jig and press 10 seconds....NEXT.
Ya I have been watching videos on YouTube since 2 or 3 people suggested them. It looks like they will be a better setup in the long run than the helix tower. Man it sucks making decisions... Sent from my LG-E980 using Tapatalk
