Hoosier, ive heard about the vanilla extract before, even putting a tarsal gland in it to mix the two. Ive never done it, how do you apply it. Just spray it on foliage? I have a bunch I once used on a bear bait, always wondered what I'd do with the remaining 3/4 gallon.

Acron Rage Blast, love the smell of it myself. I spray my boots down before I go in, cross trails, and get close to my stand. I get the non-aerosol bottles. Can find them pretty cheap when I wait for them in the clearance isle at Wally World.

I don't use scents anymore but I did use vanilla several years ago when I was first getting started. The deer (does) would come straight to it and eat the leaves that I had sprayed.

Yep , i just fill up a spray bottle like a empty scent eliminator bottle and spray it on the leaves out in front of your stand , yeah i have all ready mixed Doe urine in with it also , they will tear it up , for the first few weeks of early season i will spray it behind me as i'm walking to my stands , they follow the trail like a magnet........that is also how i get them into new area where i hang a stand and put 50lb salt blocks down , i have in the past put deer where i wanted them instead of me going to them with cheap and simple Dollar Store Vanilla Extract..........it also works good in late season when they are back to searching for food when they smell the Vanilla in the are they come runnin.....lol

    Interesting about the vanilla scent.

Here is my early season scent....nothing. I don't want any deer to know I am there or think anything is amiss, kind of like being a little shadow in the woods.

I've been trying to smell like the woods...dirt..vegitation. I'll probably keep doing that. I've never heard of using vanilla extract. How do you do this, mix it half and half with water and pour in a few caps full of doe pee??? Also, If the does are tearing it up pre/post rut wouldn't they tear it up during the rut bringing Bucks with them?

I dont use it for a cover scent , i use it for an attractant , i use it straight most of the time , i use it for like i mentioned above , i bring the deer to me and it has worked for years , for instance i just bought a new 21' ladderstand with 8' ffeet of extra extensions , instead of busting my azz and taking it in where they are i set it up 60 yards into the woods where there wasnt any activity , i set my trail cam up with a 50lb block of cattle salt for $4.95 and sprayed the Vanilla Extract on my way out and in a path out in the Hay field , the deer latched onto the trail of Vanilla and now are having at the salt block right in front of my new stand , tons of new pics there daily , where there wasnt a soul to be found before that day ........it freekin works thats all i have to say .

Oh and if you do a google search you will find numerious companys making bottled and canned lures with the scent of Vanilla , but i gaurentee you wont but 24oz of that for $2.00 .......lol

I have noticed the vanilla smell in some of them last year. I used it when I started my mineral station and it worked. I too will be buying some for the season. I wont use any other scents this season. Opening day it will be on some folliage behind my stand.

Nosejammer.com is a product that uses vanilllin. smells like vanilla but its not. I used it all year last year and never had a deer bust me hunting a bottom that always has tricky winds. they gaurantee the stuff.

I've found that rubbing my face in fawn afterbirth it really effective.

Not only does this prove to my bros that I am hardcore. It also got me on a pro staff.

Hey Hoosier Daddy: I am in NW Indiana. Think this will work in public land up here? And just to clarify you are talking about the same vanilla extract that you cook with right?

So How much is too much Vanilla extract around your stand??? should I empty out a few bottels and hold on tightly? or just a couple of sprays? I'm about to go out and try it now.
