Where have you guys found the best deal on these? I always end up buying from Walmart. I've always used Lithiums but I had a big stock of regular alkaline I've been using this summer (Duracell) and it's made me realize why I used Lithiums for so long. On top of that, I just ordered a wireless cam and I'm definitely going to need Lithiums for that. As far as SD cards go, I like to have two per camera but I've been running into issues when switching them between different cameras, even when formatting. So I'm wanting to get some and dedicate them for each individual camera. Let's hear some recommendations Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Get your sd cards off eBay. I buy the Kingston 8gb cards. Usually get them for like $3 each. I run 8 cameras and have 2 cards per camera. I've never had an issue with the Kingston cards.
Amazon and walmart for cards when I'm impatient. I use duracell pro alkalines. I tried using lithiums and there's an argument to be made for using them in cold weather but the rest of the year they just don't pencil out for me. I hate all the junk batteries with alkalines but it'd take about five changes of those to equal the cost of one set of lithiums.
It's a little over twice the cost on Lithiums. They last at least twice as long for me thru the summer especially on video mode. Plus, I don't have to change them nearly as frequently. I've ran cameras for 8-10 months straight on the same batteries During cold weather, they can outlast alkalines close to 5:1 from my experience. Once again, especially on video mode Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Duracell pro's on amazon are ~$46/144ct or .31ea, energizer lithiums are $145/100ct or $1.45ea. Now I'm not a mathematician but by my calculations that's over 4.6 times more expensive as the alkalines. I agree the performance is better of lithiums in cold weather so there's some rationale behind using them then but over spring, summer and fall I could not get 4.6 times the lifespan out of the lithiums, it was about double the lifespan of the lithiums. That's impressive but not cost efficient. Time between change outs is going to depend purely on number of pics and camera settings with the exception of really cold temps. If you know of lithiums that are only twice as expensive as alkalines, I might reconsider my previous conclusions.
I see you live in TN and don't know if you're a member of TNDeer.com but there was a guy in the classifieds on TNDeer selling a bulk of tham and they came out to like $.50 apiece. SD cards that is, not batteries.
Walgreens was having 50 % off on all their batteries this past weekend so i stocked up on the lithium batteries.
