I put on some miles today trying to get the stand sites finalized for this fall.

The weather was pretty good pretty comfortable when the wind was blowing. Otherwise it was a little warm.

My adrenalin was literally flowing at one of the sites that i very confident in will be money. 5 heavily traveled deer trails all converge in one spot. I got my tree picked out and checked to make sure I could access that spot without crossing any of the trails. All good.

On the way out I ran across this guy. Sorry about the bad cell phone picture.

I also flushed one Timber Doodle which scared the crap out of me. I almost stepped on the darn thing.

I packed sandwich and had an enjoyable lunch out in the woods.

I am very very close to being ready and I have high confidence going into this season. The hard work is going to pay off I believe.

    Brett,

As you know, I am changing things up completely this year. Hunting mostly public land in the state forest. It's more work but in the end it will be rewarding. The deer are there..... now I just need to my job.

Brad, I remember where you said you were hunting. You might have more people hunting that area, but the area is much bigger and will allow you a lot more flexibility to hunt down and kill the deer. The terrain seems to be more varied which offers some better edgelines and hills to hunt around. Keep working hard, it is going to pay off.
