stay away from the no names and the Jackyl(its tempting-don't).... I like my Wicked Ridge Warrior(made by Ten Point...heavier but a tack driver out to 40-45 yrds big drop if further). Carbon Express X-Force has a decent bow for that price to.

I'd also advise you to take a look at Parker crossbows. My brother in law has the Tornado. Freaky fast, but it's their top of the line and probably out of your price range. Recommended Parker to my buddy who was looking to replace his old Horton when the limb pocket came apart on it. Don't remember the model name, starts with a "C" I believe, but I know it's well within your price range. It came as a package with scope, quiver, and 3 carbon arrows.

He had me sight it in since he knows I'm good at it. I have to tell you, I was impressed! His target has a red bullseye about the size of a silver dollar, and within it a black bullseye the size of a nickel. It took two shots to get in the red, which my buddy thought was good enough. Not for me! I had brought my shooting bags, so I was able to get a rock steady hold. I kept working with the scope, you know, 2 clicks left, one click down. My buddy says, "Wow, you're going for the precision award!" I told him I wanted to see just how fine I could dial it in. Finally, WHAM! Dead center in the black. Went and pulled the arrow, cocked the bow, reloaded, and WHAM! Dead center of the black again! In the same hole!

This was from 20 yards. The scope has 3 horizontal reticles, and we had decided to set it up for 20, 30, and 40 yards. So, 20 yards was dialed in, let's try 30. Wham! In the black. Move back to 40. Wham! In the black. Absolutely phenomenal accuracy! I've used a compound since I started bow hunting, but I've gotta tell you. If my shoulders get any creakier I'm going to have to take a serious look at these crossbows.
