Here is my take on scent and scent control. Have a friend come over to your house, you can smell "their" scent but not your own house. You are oblivious to your own stank but can pick up on theirs. A deer knows their "home" and introducing a new scent, whatever it is, will still be a new scent they need to determine if it is danger or safe.

+3 Evercalm As a side note. Ever calm is the only scent product I use. In general I am a "no scent is the best scent" hunter. In certain instances where I absolutely can't get into or out of my stand/blind without walking somewhere a deer will cross my track, I rub ever calm on my boots. I have also used it in the tree when a deer circles downwind and gets fidgety. I have watched it calm them down after I rub some on the tree.
