I am getting the itch for a new(er) bow, but unfortunately don't have the money to buy something brand new. My budget would probably be about $500 if I were to get something used and I just wanted to see what some of you might recommend. I have heard good things about the Matthews Z7 and have been looking on Ebay for some of these, but know that there are many other options out there. So in short, what would you recommend?
What are you looking for as far as a setup? Axle to axle, Draw weight, draw length, bare bow or loaded, brand specific? I feel those are some solid questions that should be brought up before recommendations come about as to what you should be looking for. With that being said, I have a Elite Answer in the classifieds that has a HHA optimizer, QAD rest and G5 headlock quiver and as of tomorrow I will have a Prime Shift with with new strings and cables along with a HHA/QAD and a G5 maglock quiver that i will be looking to part with as well. I shot the new Prime Logic, fell in love with it and have the completely unnecessary desire to purchase one.
I would sell my Z7X for $400 bare. But it's LH. 65#\29". Great bow in great condition with a new (2017) string/cables. I have accessories I would add but PM if interested.
I am looking for a 60-70# draw weight and 29 1/2 - 30" length. I would definitely like a bow that has newer strings and is already set up with a sight, rest, etc. I am open to different options with this. I am right handed, so that would be a must...
Not necessarily looking for something brand specific by the way, that is why I was wanting some of your opinions. Thanks for everyone's replies so far.
You can get some really great deals on the Bear bows. I got my 2013 model 2 years ago for I think $350 or $400.
I’ve never shot one, but have heard good things about the Bear Arena 34. Here is one at AT that may still be available and was open for cash offers. http://www.archerytalk.com/vb/showthread.php?t=5310207&page=2
You can get some really good deals on new left over bows. A lot of shops will have bows that are one to two years old that are new and you can get them at a really good price. I bought a new 2014 left over Bear Motive 6 in 2016 for $500 that was originally $875 and last year I got an exceptional deal on a 2015 Hoyt Carbon Spyder 30 for $500 that had an original price tag of $1285.
While it's a terrible forum for most things, but if you're in the market for buying a bow, Archery Talk is what I would suggest. I bought my Halon practically brand new for $600 off there, I'm sure they are even cheaper now since the Triax was released. You could find several great used models from all the manufacturers in your price range though. Sent from my LGLS992 using Tapatalk
I have an Elite Impulse 34 with about everything you would need. Not sure I could quite hit the $500 but maybe we could work something out. Shoot me a PM if your interested.
I have never seen the Matthews Mission line of bows before. Why are they so less expensive than the other Matthews bows?
