    Hey all,

    Very simple question for you.

What's the best bow (under $300 used) for me to get started with?

I don't want to put too much energy into research. Looking for an all-around bow that I can buy used, get a feel for the sport, and maybe resell in a year or two when I'm ready to get serious.

    Thanks in advance!

What would be ideal would be a list of top three with reasons why. I'll be hunting white tails in Michigan from a stand. Thanks for your advice, guys.

Mission by Mathews are some pretty good bows in an affordable range.

PSE or Bear off the shelf from ****S or Cabelas, ect. would get the job done.

I mean shoot, I shot a 1980s Darton 47# bow last season and it bagged several deer

For me it would be difficult to say go buy this or that bow and not have you find out what draw length you are, how much poundage you could possibly pull, etc.. My recommendation is to find a decent bow shop and go in and ask questions. This is the time when they can measure your draw length and even perhaps let you try a couple of different bows to see how much you can pull. From there you can also tell them what you are thinking when it comes to buying a bow. Some shops have bows on consignment or can put you in touch with people who are selling an old bow. Once you have done that then you can start looking around on Craigslist, forums like this one or ArcheryTalk to find a used bow that will fit you. Something to keep in mind though, most used bows will be sold as-is, no warranty. Elite to my knowledge is the only bow manufacturer that has a lifetime warranty regardless of ownership. For slightly more than you are willing to spend you may find a decent bow that is brand new. Places like Cabelas, Bass Pro Shops, etc. often have decent bows that would be good start as well.
