I've only been in the archery game for a few years so I'm always interested in hearing what some people with more experience think the best bow that some of the major companies (Mathews, bowtech,Hoyt, PSE, elite,bear...) have ever put out. For example Ive heard people say the z7 is Mathews best bow they've put out. Let's hear some opinions!

Best? Define that? Is that longest duration of run for a particular model. Are you only talking modern compounds?

Of the bows of BowTech and Mathews that I have owned...

Mathews would be the Heli-m. I liked everything about the Heli-m better than the Z7.
BowTech a tie between the Allegiance and 82nd Airborne, though if I had to pick... The 82nd.

I haven't owned a Hoyt since like 2004 so I can't really comment on them.

doesnt have to be longest run or modern. Basically your favorite model I guess. With all the hype these new models get its easy to forget some older models that I'm sure we're just as good if not better.

Then I will say any of the Shakespeare recurves (especially the ones by Ernie Root) and certainly Bear recurves as well as the more modern Black Widow recurves. All are still sought many decades after they stopped making them. That is not true of today's compounds. A 45 year old Bear Tamerlane still fetches 7 or $800. When a compound bow gets to be 10 years old its value/worth seems to drop to nil.

I have owned quest, PSE, elite, Hoyt, Mathews, and prime. My favorites from each brand are prime's impact, quest torrent, Hoyt faktor turbo, elite energy 32, Mathews chill with rock mods, PSE DNA.

Mathews- Chill X, followed closely by the Chill R and Z7 Magnum (Love these 3 bows)
Hoyt- Nitrum Turbo (Sweet shooting bow-and fast)
BowTech- Insanity CPXL (have not shot a Boss)

That's all I can give a fair opinion on as I have only owned a single bow from Prime (Impact-really liked it) and none from any other brands.

To me, these are some of the favorites I've owned or shot by brand.

    Mathews - Switchback XT.
    Bear - Kodiak Magnum.
PSE - I haven't found one I really "love" yet. The new Decree is pretty nice but I haven't owned one yet.
Bowtech - Allegiance or RPM 360 (seriously at less than 30" the RPM is an awesome drawing and shooting bow).
    Hoyt - My Faktor actually.
Elite - Haven't owned one yet but I enjoy the energy series bows.
Obsession - Phoenix - did not own but shot a few and really like them.
    Reflex - Bighorn

I owned a few more such as Martin, Jennings, High Country, Miles Keller XI, etc., and more trad bows than I can remember. I still have 9 trad bows, a few I made myself.

Best shooting PSE I would say is the Bow madness 30. quiet. no shock. smooth.
Bear SQ32 is my hunting bow. love everything about it. and its 13 years old.
best shooting mathews I would say is the switchback.
    hoyt Carbon Spyder 30
A lot of other brands out there. Just shot a Darton and I liked the draw cycle on it but it had a lot of vibration to it.

Whichever one cost the most  No, it's a personal preference honestly. Different people have different experiences some good some bad.

My personal "favorite" are the bowtech brand. I've loved both the bowtech and the diamonds I've had. Granted I am now shooting a Mathews switchback. And I do love it too. But I will say that the toughest bow I've ever own and still do. The pse nova is unbreakable.
