I have a pair of Wolverines and a pair of cabelas brand with goretex and thinsulate insulation, either 600 or 800 gram. My feet have never been wet in either of them. I also have a pair of rubber boots, but when it gets too cold out I have to go with the other boots. The rubbers I have just aren't very warm.

I think your looking for something that is not there. What I would do, buy a cheap pair of rubbers for early season and spend the money for a good late season boot.

Rubbers for bowhunting and short cold weathers sits. And a good 600-800 goretex boot for the rest. If u could only have 1 get a 800 gram goretex boot.

Have you ever actually hiked around in an 800 gram boot? Way to hot for early season.

I just bought a pair of Muck Fieldblazer boots on sale at Cabelas for $85. The comfort range is supposed to be from 70F to -20F but I wore them today for the first time in 65F degree weather and my feet were sweating. They are comfortable and lightweight but I think they would be too much for early season/unseasonably warm temps (like today in central IL). Wearing wool socks with them also was a bad idea (not sure what I was thinking). So far, I am happy with them but I have yet to test them in cold weather.

I wear my 800 grain irish setters for turkey hunting in the spring and also to scout in most of the time, not a problem at all.
I've sat out in 30 degree days with nothing more than a regular pair of socks...

No problems at all, but they're more than 120

One pair just doesn't cut it for me...I wear a pair of woody max for most of my stand hunting, but when the temps drop they aren't warm enough for long sits ...I then usually throw a pair of hot mocs over them. If its really cold I wear a pair of danner pronghorns 1000 gram... I have a a couple other pairs that i wear for mountain hunts and in other situations. Do all boots just done exist in my book.

I use LaCrosse uninsulated, but I hunt in LA. We rarely get to the low 30's if its cold I just wear thermal socks. I have never had my feet get too cold that I couldn't stand it. They run $40-60 insulated alpha's around $100-150

I'm thinking about a full size leather zip up, insulated probably 800. What do you all think about that?

I dont know much about zip up's honestly man boots are like everything els in this world. I where two dif. boots in the 40deg and up I have a pair of Asolo GTX only because of i have had them for 3 year and used them on 2 deployments in the mountains. and in the winter i have a Pair of Rocky's because they are awesome for the winter and water proofness. but man just go to a boot retailer and try a bunch on, see what feels good. for all seasion idk what your winters are like 600-800g insalation will do you just fine. just water proof, and a nice pair of socks and youll be fine.
