With the winter months fast arriving, what is the best base layer for the buck?

I just got the new Traverse Tee Top Merano Wool Sitka Top and Bottom. Super thin and comfortable and light for those long trips into the stand. Very packable into a fob. I tried these on a few weeks back when I got them and was blown away with how warm they were. Wind resistant is a huge factor, I sit all day sits in -35, now I'll be able to do it in more relaxing dress code and less weight.

I have had good luck with the Arctic Shield base layers. They make a light weight and a heavy weight garmet. Very good on the price also.

Under Armour Cold gear, I got a top and bottom (base layer) for around $80. Works pretty well, especially if you have the right cover layers on top of it.

I love the UA cold gear. It is virtually indestructible. One set will last you several years. Get the anti-microbial stuff - Armourblock, I believe.

No drama, no special care required. Just throw it in the wash, and it goes right back to the same size everytime.

I have one set that's about 10? years old, way back when UA Cold gear first came out - and the color has faded a bit.

Usually, I'm not a guy who says "spend the extra money," but in this case, just bite the bullet and buy the UA. That stuff turns you into an instant badass. It's like the Ironman's suit. Your max benchpress will double, and your libido will be immediately enhanced. Well, maybe not that far, but it's good stuff.

    You're my favorite turd. I wouldn't **** ya.
