If yuo are on a budget and your camera weighs 3 lbs or less the The 3rd Arm Mini Pro XL is pretty decent. Its like 120 bucks, pretty light and fits in a normal size pack. You can always update the head later if you want too but this is a decent start.

muddy outfitter arm is on back order until April ish. Stinks. Ill try to hold off til then (dont really need it till fall), but would like one asap so I can get in the stand and start practicing. I have a lot to learn, would like to get some of the mistakes out of the way in the off season.

I would wait for it, that's what I did. Muddy is coming out with a new arm that is a little longer and has a silent ratchet strap, you might want to wait for that. The only complaint I have about the Outfitter Arm is the ratchet strap is loud, but looks like they fixed it with this new arm. There was a preview in the ATA coverage post.

yeah ill probably wait for it. Was even thinking of pre ordering it. A longer one would be great. I always have that worry that one will come to my left and I wont be able to get the camera past my gut for the shot haha

I just picked up a Manfrotto 128RC for $85, and I'm pretty sure Bass Pro and Cabela's sold the Muddy Outfitter Arms for $119 last season. Hopefully they do the same in 2014, putting me just over $200.
