i think i have a idea of what your talking about but i'm positive. I have the app scoutlook and love it when it works. I have all my stands and other peoples stands marked and i can log all the deer activity from that stand. If you have service you can mark you "exact" location which is usually extremly close for marking blood trails as well.

    Trimble GPS HuntPro.

It gives you the ability to create a "hunting trip".

Types of ballistics..(if you're a rifle hunter too)

    Bloodtrail

    compass

Computer (allows you to calculate elevation, GeoLocation, speed, distance.

Guide. This gives you the ability to use information that you've gathered in the past, to determine how you'd like to hunt a future trip.

    Maps

    Solar/Lunar

Trophy Room (for example, mark a killspot, snap a pic, and it'll enter it into the trophy room)

    Weather

    Ability to download OFFLINE maps.

There's a bit of a learning curve with it. But it's very detailed. I downloaded it awhile back and didn't mess with it too much. Then I realized I had a lot of time on my hands in between not seeing deer while i was in my tree stand so I started learning it, now I really like it. Besides iTUNES, it's my most used app.

It's basically a personal journal of your hunting trips.

I use mytracks but that trimble sounds pretty interesting. Might have to check it out. I like mytracks because I can upload to google earth and get more map options and really look closer at areas I recorded while scouting

I have one called MyTracks. It's just a GPS that will put your trail on the screen overlayed onto a Google Earth image. You can reference to the map to see where you are and where you have been. You can also put in markers. It will also upload the track to Google Earth.

Nothing can replace a GPS. They are the most accurate. I've used my phone to mark tree stands and still couldn't find the stand in the dark. Just not accurate enough.

The Trimble HuntPro uses the GPS in your phone to locate. It's very accurate. If you hold the app and mark a "waypoint", it'll give you a set of coordinates. If you move extend your arm out and mark another, you'll get a different set of coordinates.

You can set your arrival radius from 10ft-1000ft.
