So i went out yesterday at 10am for a midday hunt. about an hour after sitting the biggest buck i've ever seen (it was a nice 8 pointer, but i have been hunting for 3 seasons and still haven't shot a deer so it looked amazing) came to within shooting distance. my heart was pounding. i was able to stop him right where i wanted him. i let the shot go and it missed. all i could think was how could i have missed. sure enough i checked my arrow and i had shot underneith him. since i started hunting i'd been using an old golden eagle bow i bought off craigslist. big mistake. it didn't fit me well and didn't shoot well. when i got back to my house i brought out the target and checked to see if the sight was on, and it wasn't. i had sighted it in this season with hundreds of arrows and today it was off. that was it. i had had it. i went out yesterday afternoon and bought a Mission Venture. now i'm ready for the big buck to come back. i won't miss a second time.
It happens...I missed a couple in my day. A new bow doesn't ALWAYS solve the problem though...bowhunting is a science and an art. I practiced for months and still missed. The trick is to learn the physics and learn whatever equipment you do use. Consider your bow an appendage...sounds weird, but it helps me. Study my friend...
