So I've been working on fine tuning for the past couple of weeks and getting my setup as comfortable as possible. I switched to new arrows, CX Blue Streaks, and went up a spine. With these changes, I also went to a 125gr point to get more FOC and get my spine closer to where its needed.

For the last couple of weeks, I couldn't figure out why my groups at 30+ yards were not as good as broadheads. Broadhead groups out to 50 yards were in the 3" or less range consistently. I was ecstatic about how well they were flying. But fieldpoints... not so much. They were all over the place, within a 6-8" circle. It made no sense. It should be the other way around if anything! I started searching for what is causing this. To my surprise, when I spun the field points, every single one of them had a pretty significant wobble! I freaked out and checked the broadheads. No wobble. I remember spinning heads while building these shafts and making sure they spun perfectly. I used a G5 ASD tool on the shaft and the insert when I built them. I grabbed some 100gr that I had and put them on. They spun perfectly. Its the stinkin' field points...?

I bought these FP's at ****s one day. They were your run of the mill, el' cheapo field points and the ony ones in 125gr they had. I didn't think much of it. Field points are field points right?

So, just an FYI, don't buy the cheap crap from ****s Sporting Goods!

Some points are just junky. I have been using Saunders Combo Points for a few years now and have yet to find one untrue or not 125 gr. Not available in the small town I live but $5/doz from Jerry at southshoreacherysupply.com and only $1.95 shipping.

I usually get mine from the shop, but I was out and about one day and figured I'd grab a pack when I was in ****'s. I can't remember the brand, but they were the bottom of the barrel brand you see at Wal Mart's as well.

I agree........... Field points are about the cheapest thing you can buy for your bow... Get new ones.. Some of the targets out there have the 2 metal thin pole legs that lean back to stabilize the target.. Let a field point hit one of those and watch how fast the tip is bent like a dogs &$@#%..... And YES, they will make your arrows fly like a Nolin Ryan slider...
