I did last year. Some early season results, but as the woods were overrun in ML season, it was less effective. I rubbed the stick on some trees at the edges of shooting lanes and applied it on my boots on the way in. Sure enough had some scent trail and brought in some younger deer.
I've been using this on my licking branches for probably 3 years now with great results. Haven't put it on my boots yet but probably will after reading all these reviews. Wish it wasn't so expensive as I go through 4-5 sticks a year with how many cameras and mock scrapes I run. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Conquest-Scents-Rutting-Buck-Pack/34801598 $26.21 for a pack of rutting buck and deer herd. Does anyone use the rutting buck?
I used it for a year or two with okay results - I can't say I saw anything that amazing that kept me wanting to use it. I would typically apply a little on my boots before my hunt to help cover scent on way in and out, and apply some on my tree as cover scent if the wind was questionable. I didn't see deer react either positively or negatively to it when crossing my trail - at least no more than without it. Also, even with pretty frequent use I only went through maybe 1.5 sticks in a season. It doesn't take much.
I've come to the conclusion that your best bet is to play the wind and be as scent free as possible. BUT sometimes you are forced to hunt a ridge where the wind can swirl or you have a great spot that you must cross a deer trail to get to and don't want to get completely busted. Evercalm works as advertised. It doesn't claim it will bring in big bucks, it's not a sexual or food attractant. It seems to just calm the deer that do come by. Filling their noses with something other than your stink. It doesn't spook deer that I have noticed. Again, scent free and playing the wind is always best. But for those marginal days, I carry a stick with me in my bag. Beats staying at home.
I've used it on public land, if that makes a difference. Deer definitely don't pay as much attention to me when I use it. I've had several watch me take their picture and draw my bow and not spook. I've used it with great results to start scrapes. Pit it on licking branch, and on boots when scraping the ground. I swear by it. Sent from my SM-G920V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Put it on my boots when I walk in. Had a little buck follow where I walked right to my stand last night Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I never tried the buck scent, but I really liked the Herd scent. During the rut, I had multiple (young) bucks circling my stands looking for this herd of does he was smelling. Like others have said, it's not perfect, but it definitely is a good tool to keep on you
Just bought another stick today!! I throw it with the cap off in my scent locker bag. My hunting clothes smell like deer... try it EDIT: not the VS1... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
i found that it works good when the deer are walking toward me and are upwind.they never do smell me.
I'm hunting both big woods with mixed pressure and smaller high pressured public lands. I have 3 or 4 sticks purchased for this season. You could say I am a big fan. I use the bedding stick. Not a fan of the rut scents and no longer buy them.
I have used it on and off for the last few years and I am not sure if I could actually make definitive statement that it helped me or hurt me on a hunt. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Last year I rubbed some herd on my tree while on stand. Never got busted. This year I have been putting some on my boots when I leave the Jeep and walk in. Had a spike come in on Sunday. When he hit the trail I walked in on he stopped and was looking around (I assume for the deer he was smelling) for several minutes. He eventually put his nose down and followed my path out as far as I could see him. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Dang it. Something I’m going to have to try. I like the idea of the bedding scent. Never looked at the stuff. Just a small tool to try to help swirling winds. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
