Good sized doe! That'll be some good meat!.....ALSO father-in-law sent me two pics of some great bucks that we will pursue on his property. The hit list is growing!
Great work neal! can't wait to see the footage. Checked cams last weekend, but nothing but younger bucks. Set my stand on a part of the farm we never hunt. Here is the property I hunt. For the first time in probably 5 years, we are surrounded by Beans. I think they will be picked sooner than later, as there has not been a ton of rain, and they are 75% brown. The Blue Arrows are my 3 tree stands. The furthest right stand is my new climb on that i hung last weekend. It's in a oak tree full of acorns. Also this is the first time since I've been hunting here (10 year) that we have had corn in that field. All but 1 of my kills have come from the south west stand, but had some good encounters last year in the north point stand. The purple arrow is my father-in-law box blind (bobcat031, he's on another team) We are both hoping from a good season, and I'm super excited to try my new hang on stand. Also picked up a cheap used camera, so I'm going to try and self film my hunts this year!
Great job on the doe! Sucks you're already dropping deer and my season hasn't even started yet lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Super frustrating camera pull yesterday. Over 1000 pictures looked at and 1 maybe 2 shooter bucks. 900 of the pictures were pigs... they're terrible. So here's the only definite shooter, he's not that big but he's at least a 3 year old And this one is hard to tell but could be a good deer I know we have better deer running around somewhere. We had some big ones make it through the season last year but they haven't showed up yet. Guess we'll wait and see. 7 days until OK and I can't wait
I need to post all the nice ones I have on camera. Got some decent ones on every property I hunt. Sent from my SM-G955U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Nice deer guys. Neal I checked out your hunt today. Great looking set there, especially for does. It's too damn hot to hunt here. Its supposed to cool off this week, next weekend looks better.
I leave on Thursday for South Dakota and it will be nice to get away from the 90 degree weather we’ve been having! I hope one out of the three of us going can get a deer down. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
So this is off topic but I figured I'd share with y'all. I work for the bureau of safety and environmental enforcement (BSEE). We are in charge of all of the offshore oil and gas operations in federal waters in the US (gulf of Mexico for us). In honor of the Department of the Interior's National Hunting and Fishing month (October) I was asked to write an article for BSEE highlighting our recreational used of federal public lands, in this case, waters. Hope y'all enjoy https://www.bsee.gov/blog-post/exciting-fishing-opportunities-abound-on-the-ocs Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I shoot a mathews outback with 100 grain 2 blade rage broadhead..... so far things are looking relatively promising. We have a few real solid bucks on camera along with a good number of does. I will do my best to put down two does this opening weekend and then start rack hunting. The cool down should start for me tomorrow as far as the weather goes.
Great article! That’s one thing I’ve always wanted to do but just haven’t had the chance. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
7 hours out from SD. After 10 hours driving I’m about beat. Scouting tonight for some bucks. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Wow! that's one hell of a drive. We'll be rolling out at 3 am tomorrow to head to Oklahoma. ~14 hour drive with a pit stop NW of Dallas for some BBQ. Once we get there I will scout and set up my ground blind and a camera. Brush that in and let it set for a few days. We have 8 days to hunt so I want the area to settle. My ladder stand on the fence edge should be good for a doe or 2.
Good luck everyone starting this weekend. Stay safe! I'm headed out tonight in MN trying to catch the backside of this cold front.
Season starts Sunday for us! I can't wait to get in a tree. Wife is making me go to a wedding in St. Louis tomorrow so i will miss opening morning. I'll get out in the afternoon though.
