I already have my bow set up, but there are some friends of mine that want to start shooting archery. I know for a fact that the closest pro shop for me is going to tell me to have them use all fuse accessories. Thats what I use, so I can't personally disagree. But what i want to know is, what is the best bow/accessory combination for beginning archers? The stuff I have ain't cheap, and i don't want to get them the best money can buy right away, then have them hate the sport all together.

Go to a big box store, cabelas, basspro, gander, scheels. They will have package deals on the lower end bows.

quality equipment doesnt have to be over the top expensive. BUT, dont go with most ready to shoot packages. They are sub par and below quality in my opinion. Decent WB, truglo quiver, decent 3 pin sight, limbsaver s-coil stabilizer will cost you around 100 total for all

Truglo sights are cheap and work very well, the whisker biscuit is great for beginners also cheap or the QAD drop away they have cheaper versions, limb savers stabilizers are great and cheap.

Thanx for the input guys. I put so much time, thought, and money into mine that I forgot about the basic stuff I used to use.

Honestly, The guys at our local Gander Put together decent packages. Viper sites, QUAD rests, Truglow Quivers Etc. all on very nice bows! I would put the "Quality" of those packages up against most peoples go to hunting rigs! All at a good price.

Ok. I'm a green wet behind the ears want to be bow hunter (hunted w/ a gun for years), however I have a serious problem...
When I was in the Marines a few years ago I had a building blown out from under me and I had some of it collapse on me. I have several pins and screws in both shoulders, both knees and I spent 18 mo. learning how to walk again because I fractured my back in 3 places. with all that being said I no longer have sufficient strength in my shoulders to draw back a bow of traditional poundage (ex. 60- 70 lbs.) I don't want to use a crossbow, so what are my options? I'm trying to get some strength back in my upper body, but it will take a few years of really working thru it to get back to any degree of strength.

    Sorry for the long post.

First off thank you for your service. My hat is off to you. With today's technology in bows, if you had the right set up you can probably shoot a lower poundage. You might have to limit yourself to closer range shots, but it should be doable. check with your state laws on what the lowest poundage you can have your bow set at. Hopefully people with more experience than I will chime in but that at least gives you a start :)

Thanks Pat... I'll check on the poundage first thing Monday. I feel like if I go too low I may have to hand in my Man Card. I need to find a good Bow shop here in Louisville, not one of the big chains like Cabelas or Bass Pro.

I will also thank you for your sacrifices and your service! And as for your man card bro don't worry about that it really don't matter especially in your situation!! With that being said mission makes a bow called the craze and trust me it goes very low in poundage and it kills deer like crazy as I've bought my son one and he is a killing machine bow is set at 45 pounds and he shoots 30 yards very well tho 20 yard shots are better the bow adjusts from 17 to 70 pounds and is plenty fast just need right arrow broadhead combo!! Good luck hope all the best to you bro

I have to agree with pipeline. That is one of those scenarios where you should actually go up a level on the man card.
