What if you are fishing from a boat, I know... I know noone ever drinks beer on a boat..that would be dangerous. A lawnmower could probably be considered dangerous as well....maybe more dangerous than a bow. There's probably someone somewhere that can bust out some stats I'm sure on alcohol related equipment accidents/injuries.

I'm pretty much tongue in cheek on this thread and respond to ones like this when I get bored but I'm also pretty sure there are a ton of hypocrits on the internet No one in particular it just seems everyone is so perfect on the internet.

Ahhh the good ol internet.... where everyone can be the person they wish they were....and noone will ever know otherwise.

On a side note today was VA youth day, it was awesome we saw 8 but no good shots were presented. I pounded a 24 oz Monster Rehab(it's monsters version of the Arnold Palmer) and I gotta tell you that may have been too much. Was a little jittery for a while after that, gonna have to quit drinking those in the woods.

Wouldn't alcohol counteract the "jittery" effect? Just a thought.... :D

Now, before you jump the gun, I stated a small flask of bourbon goes to the timber with me! I DID NOT say I was drinking while hunting! If myself or the friends I hunt with are lucky enough to harvest an animal, then yes we take a swig from the flask to celebrate the hunt. I take offense to the "slob" comment, because you jumped to conclusions! And for your information, not everyone who drinks or enjoys a drink in celebration needs a "program"! I'm sure at some point you have celebrated a hunt either yours or a friends and there is no difference! So cool your jets before you jump there froggy!!

NEW, I can tell you I have nothing to hide, and the things I say on here I would say and do in real life. What is the point of lying? I have done some stupid things in my life, but that does not mean I cannot speak out on how I believe drinking while hunting is just plain stupid. That does not make me or anyone else hypocritical. I own up to things I have done and make many mistakes just like everyone else.

Lol hooiser ....I honestly ( this time of year) cannot imagine finding my deer and then whipping out a beer out of my pack on the spot and chugging it. I love myself a beer but right before the drag is a no go

Brett I absolutely believe you and my comment was not directed at any person in particular just a feeling I get sometimes from many forums not just bowhunting.com. I used your quote mainly to comment on the fishing and lawnmower part. My point about the topic being hypocritical is that if anybody that has a problem with people drinking a beer or two on stand they are basically saying to me that they don't mix beer with anything. Not out on the lake, not at dinner then driving, not when riding their lawnmower or cutting down arrows in the garage(you could lose a finger), they're not drinking the night before and getting up 3-4 hours later and going hunting.

So in this thread what do you think the ratio is about 9 out of 10 people seem opposed to the topic? Just using that number that tells me that if you took 100 random bowhunters and put them in a room and surveyed them 90% would say they don't drink and hunt but do you think out of that same group 90% don't mix alcohol(maybe just a beer or two) with any other hobby or activity(like the activities mentioned above)? I've been around long enough enough to know that's a stretch, regardless of what I may read on the internet.

believe me drinking a beer isnt the first thing i think of while i'm hunting , its the last , and i drag all my deer with my 4 wheeler or if i cant get to it with my 4 wheeler i quarter it out too my 4 wheeler , and usually after that is when i drink my beer , and while i'm butchering and watching football or nascar or whatever in my butcher shop ..........NOT WHILE HUNTING

I sure didn't read all the replies because I don't think I have too....I would imagine the core guys (Those who started this sight and were amongst the first members), are slamming the poster. Rightly so!

Many new guys who joined because they are of the proper value system are probably also on board with this just being wrong!

There has been an influx of posts that do not gel with the boards intentions and I believe are merely meant to get a rise out the membership. This is not what we are about!

I enjoy an adult beverage, I am of legal age. But there is a time and place..during or BEFORE the hunt, is neither.
