Also, a .08 BAC is the legal "per se" limit... if you fail a sobriety test @.05 BAC (for example), you're getting "hooked up".

Knowing right from wrong is a matter of opinion as this thread clearly shows, you might think it is wrong for a person to have a Yuengling and then go get in a stand, I don't really care if they do. I don't really care if they do it on their stand(unless theres some law in their state) or on their riding lawnmower or at a restaurant. If that person was getting smashed and hunting, driving, etc then my opinion would be different.

Like I said earlier I'm not advocating it I just find it hard to believe everyone that's up in arms about it hasn't had a couple while out at the lake fishing or going out on a charter or gone to some steakhouse for dinner and had a beer or two after a long work week then hopped right in the truck and drove home. So when the gentlemen earlier stated he doesn't do any of that because he doesn't drink at all I stated I believed he would be in the minority as in I believe the majority of people at least drink a little and have probably done or still do some of those things or something similiar.

Ever tied a little buzz on went to bed and got up a few hours later to hunt? Think any alcohol would be in a persons system that did that? Please nobody answer that because I already know the answer, nobody here would ever do anything like that and if they did they would calculate out how many hours of sleep they needed to wait before their system was clear of alcohol and then they would have a portable bac device to make sure...right? Sure thing, call me a skeptic I guess.

If you blow a .05 you aren't getting charged for a dui here in VA but I would concede that .05 you would feel it and I guess a person could fail the coordination tests. But for the average male .05 is more than 1 or 2 average beers, at 180# 2 beers in 80 minutes usually equates to about a .02.

Mainlining coke...batch of meth....that is funny and completely the same as a beer.

To comment on the original post though this is not the same thing I'm talking about and seems like someone fishing for exactly what has happened. I thought the topic was kind of interesting but I'm not for keg stands in tree stands.

When I wake up at 4 AM and drive to my parking spot and hike to my tree and climb up with my climber, as I get settled in and wipe the sweat from my brow, the very last thing on my mind is a freggin beer or shot of whiskey. I drink water thanks. After I make it home that night ok beer why not. This stuff actually p!sses me off. This thread is the reason hunting goes from being safe to unsafe really fast. Drinking is NOT cool. we are not children here.
Some of you are either alcoholics or just plain stupid.
Bringing a single beer with you to celibrate your succuss is not a bad thing either. Don't you all have more to occupy your mind while your bowhunting? wind. sent. staying alert. being prepared. enjoying nature.
I imagine some of you are the worst hunters in the world. this is you> "I forgot my arrows" "oh well I remembered the booze" freggin retards!
This thread is also the reason I'm a "loner" "by nature" because I can't stand other peoples stupidity.:jerry:

I like to drink, and I like to shoot, and I like to hunt. I never put drinking with the other two though. That is just asking for someone to get hurt.

I have never hunted drunk, nor while drinking any alcohol. And that is the same when I handle any firearms. I cannot believe some of you guys drink while hunting, that is absolutely nuts.

If this is true, you prolly need "the program". This is where the slob part of "slob hunter" comes from.

I like my beer and whiskey, and I like it a lot. However, I would never imbibe on a hunt. It's illegal (usually), careless, and just plain stupid

All of you drinkers of the stand are probably also the people that brag how much respect for the animal you have by only taking shots yielding quick clean kills. Ha! Can't have your cake and eat it too on this one.

This thread is blasphemy. Can't believe it's still up.

Time to go drink a 40 then head to work to sell firearms.

I dont think anyones talking about being "drunk" while hunting, and there is a difference between drinking and drunk. I always throw a couple cans in my cooler pack for the afternoon. When it cold, then its time for bringing a half pint. There ain't much worth doing if you can't do it drinking beer!

I used to drink alot, I mean alot. I could not imagine going on any kind of vacation that didn't include being fall down drunk the whole time. Looking back I wonder how i am still alive. having said that I love hunting, golfing, and my family (not in that order) way too much to mix it with alcohol. When I go on my road trip to the midwest I might drink 2 beers over the week period. I want to be in bed early and in the tree well before first light, the last thing i want is to feel the effects of alcohol. My friends that go with me always say that I am the only peron they know who will go on a hunting trip to hunt. I don't not drink because of the anti's, or look down on people who live differently than myself. But the high i get when a nice buck or even a doe gets close is more of a buzz than any liquor could ever do.

Exactly. I dont have a problem if someone were to drink a few beers while bowhunting, but Im not going to feel all that bad for you if you fall out of your stand, or get winded by every deer in the woods because you pissed a lake right under you.

Gun hunting on the other hand, I do have a problem if youre drinking. I was actually shot at by my dad while we were out bird hunting after he had drank a few. Was it the beer? Was it him not being aware of his surroundings? Who knows...

All I read is blah blah this blah blah that. I think everyone here needs a beer. All you haters on here probably believe one can't have a beer while mowing the yard. I'll drink a beer in my stand or before I go to the stand, in the afternoon. No difference! This forum wasn't started to see who gets tanked on a hunt, or keg stands. I swear you all sound like your wives were typing for you. Grow a pair!

I drink my fair share of beer when it makes sense to do so.

But, climbing 20 feet up trees is dangerous enough without bringing alcohol into the situation IMO.

If drinking is more important to you than hunting that’s your deal not mine...it certainly doesn't make you more of a man than I.

Good for you man, really good for you. Will you teach your son or daughter to drink a beer while hunting, or drink some whiskey while they handle firearms? Having a beer while fishing or mowing the yard, even while shooting some arrows in the backyard is much different than drinking right before or during the actual hunt. BAD.
