It looks like she gave me the spin move with the shot was low but it tore a swath thru under the utter. I went back to the stand and did a walk thru, I would have have had easy tracking this morning she lost a lot of blood to the point where I found her last night. Something helped itself to the the front shoulder before I found her took some but at least it was not the back side. Trial very good point I back tracked at first from where I found her and found a lot of blood I didn't bother to look at hoof prints in the snow I was on the blood, I followed for a while before the deductive reasoning kicked in. I was within 5-10 yards of a deer with an arrow in it laying down no way after that it is losing this kind of blood after getting up so I went back to the spot and looked at tracks and found a little spot and then another until I found her. Calm rational decisions.
What a nightmare, the neighbor came over with his tractor to help the wife get the 800 pound square bale in the barn. Evidently he was upset about the doe I shot. First he said I shot the doe that always has twins, well that is not true the doe i shot I have had on camera the last 3 years and she always threw singles. I still have the doe that always throws twins on trail camera. Then he said he saw the blood trail and complained that the way it was shot it ran bleeding like a stuck pig. I feel terrible that the doe was hit badly I intentionally did not shoot a doe that came off their property to mine, I only shot at a doe coming from the other direction. No win situation I had a bad shot I used equipment that aided in the recovery and the broad head did it's job. There is no way I can explain it my side and perspective and have it be accepted or even remotely respected and understood.
He is a friendly neighbor, his wife too. Just not very accepting of a deer bleeding to death. They do not understand that animals need to die to eat them, although they have no problem with the chickens I give them that we butcher.
Can't please everybody all the time. I have a neighbor who's dog keeps screwing my hunts up and there are leash laws and I could legally kill the dog if I wanted for running game but I don't to try to keep the peace( and because I'm a dog lover). I've had talks with him and our other neighbor will probably shoot him but its really touchy with hunting and fence lines.
I felt like dog crap about the shot to begin with, I went on their property to make sure there was not a glowing nock in their woods that they could see, I would have pushed her off the property if she was laying there. I really don't want to piss them off but they just don't get it.
