Hey guys, I see alot of guys are pro staff members on these forums, and at sports shows they are all over. I was curious as to how one becomes one of these "pros"? Do you do it as your full time job? Do you guys have jobs that are related to hunting/fishing? I am interested in becoming a member but I would not be able to do it full time nor am I going to have a full time job in the hunting fishing industry(I am going to be an electrical engineer). Anyone have some thoughts on this topic?

sometimes you're sought after or if you feel strongly enough about a company (and they're searching for pro staffers), you can apply.

shooting at spots/3d tournaments gets your name out there, especially if you shoot well. other times, a company might notice you because of your ability to inspire other archers through your personality rather than purely by skill.

those who've become really successful get paid well enough to make money and shoot full time.

Hmm, does this hold true in general for all types of hunting and fishing?

i don't think there are really hard fast rules to pro staffing. i've met some make you sign a contract and others who are find with your word and a handshake.

i think the only thing, if there was a hard and fast rule, is that companies want people who will represent their products/services well to the ends of increasing business/spreading their company's values.

this of course is just my opinion.

99% of pro staffers are not paid to represent the product or company. They may get merchandise discounts or maybe even some free product, depending on the company. The very select few that do get payed, are usually more than just a pro staffer. Usually the vendor would be sponsor for that person or group. Basically that group or person becomes an advertising forum for that particular company. Of course to do that you have to have a way to market their product, like a TV show, Webshow, produce DVD's, a web site. Something that generates profit for the vendor.
