I have to tell this story...
When I first started dating my wife at 17 years old, first time I meet her parents and quite a few of our friends were over to their house...actually having a similar conversation discussing exotics we have ate.
Her dad (my now father-in-law) says "have any of you ate beaver"...I do everything I can to keep a straight face - not really knowing this guy yet. Come to find out he was dead serious so glad I did keep it in.
After a couple "no's" from the group...he then goes on to say "well it's very tender...but you want to make sure you eat young beaver...you don't want any of that old tough stuff...":D

I'm telling you eveybody in that room lost it...and no $hit, he had no idea what we were laughing at...everyone in that room has told that story a 100 times...kind of my "welcome to family" story:)

Dan, that's what I was thinking... we were at a REAL expensive restaurant with my company, and they were picking up the tab... every plate on the menu was $50+... that sort of place.

I thought I was going to get some exotic, delicious tasting delicacy and couldn't believe it when I tasted it and it tasted like... tuna! LOL! I told my wife that story when I got back, and she was like "Duh... it was tuna!" :D

Oh... and if frog legs tasted like chicken... either someone didn't know what they were doing, or you had pond-raised instead of wild collected from a ditchbank :D Like I said, there's a HUGE difference!

This is an actual exit sign in the Detroit area. I can't tell you how many guys I knew that had taken a photo of it when I was in high school. :D

Go back to my first post. I said it tasted just like the duck marsh smelled. Terrible. Spit it out, and went for the pocket gopher instead.

Thats why I said, always know how the beaver's been treated before you eat it. Some carry disease.
