Special teams, a very poor secondary and pass rush, missed extra point, turnovers lost the game. Brett actually played well, amazing in the second half. Anyone that knows football and understand scheme, could see that when viks get to spread the field and distribute the ball it makes the Viks much better, even their running game is more unpredictable and running lanes open up when they spread it. The Viks can either learn from this game or not, we will see in the upcoming next two games. The head coach needs to pull his head out of his ass and let the VIks play the type of offense that gives them the best chance to win ...for...the ENTIRE game. First half of this game was the head coaches scheme/philosphy he talked about all week..chitty play calling and forcing chit all half against 8 and 9 man fronts.. very predictable offensive formations... second half, completely different formations and the viks opened it up spread the field and let Brett run the show, (he has been doing this for 19 years, he knows more about this offense and recognizing blitz packages than any coach on that team) he called audibles and even called the running play audibles on the goal line for a score (spread formation not a formation they could pack it in against Peterson on) Defensively the Vikes have some serious issues when in man coverage (during blitz packages) they need to get that straightened out. A terribly poor first half philosophy, special teams/turnovers killed them tonight. Missed extra point and inconsistent kick coverage and fumbles.
I dont think they succeed in the playoffs with Peterson as the game plan, not at this point at least. They need to let Favre go ape.
One thing about it, it sure looked like Favre was having fun in the second half. Relaxed and having fun Favre = deadly Favre.
Yeah shed nailed it. Amazing the difference between the 1st and 2nd half with the offense. I'd take Childress head set and hide it somewhere for the playoffs if I was the Vikes. One think superman Bretty can't do anything about is that defense. Wow that was pretty pathetic. ummm he did and they lost. you can pick 100 things during the course of a game that made a difference. It shouldn't have come down to if Peterson fumbles or not. Vikes should have beat that team by 30.
As someone who was born and raised in MN and has been living in Chicago and supporting the Bears for the past 10 years (and even more so the past 3!)....it was a great game to watch. Let the Vikes learn from it for the playoffs, hope old-man-farve can lead the team through. And for the Bears, what a great "beginning of the end" to a very long season. Hoping for a speedy recovery for Tillman and Knox. At the end of the day, it isn't one player that made or loss that game...it was the team.
Exactly! What if the bears didn't drop the pass from Favre that was right in his hands.... game over! Point is the Bears won! Go Pack!
They get to keep a coach named Lovie for another season, lol Interesting that Rogers and Favre made the 2010 pro bowl.
