Well to say that I am proud of this guy would be an understatement! All started one day at work, I was walking thru the locker room with one of my Mathews collared shirts on and I heard, “Hey nice shirt!” It was to my surprise Craig Steltz, our rookie Safety. Well we got to talking and I found out that he had a great hunting experience a while back with a nice 8 pointer. Since then he has never even seen antlers on countless hunts. So much to say that he wished he would never have gotten that buck so early in his bow hunting career! Thru the summer we (the other hunters here at work) were all getting ready for our season, both football and bow season, our bye week came out on the schedule as Oct 26th! Kind of early but we were still all excited! Craig went home for the LSU game, but took his new DXT with him, sat for a day and didn’t see anything. Much to his surprise neither did I in my 31 hour 3 day hunt in WI! Nuff bout the bad stuff… last Friday I was sitting and I got a txt… -I got him- Steltz had shot the same buck he had missed on the week before, he said he actually saw the slice on the underbelly! And he came to my office and was SICK with himself for missing. I told him get ur butt back in that stand, stay calm and pick a spot! We got him outta the woods took our pics and within 4 days had him in the freezer. Congratz Craig many to come!:d

Hey Isaiah. Are you the player development guy for the bears? I know that seems like a random question, but your post made it seem that that is the case.

Thats awsome! Whats even funnier is I was talking with Craig last week a little bit at Bass pro shops archery range last Thursday night. I'm not a big football guy so I didn't know who was.

I am a football fanatic, so I know a lot of random things about the NFL. I'm not entirely sure what exactly player development is though. I think, every team has it, and it just helps player adjust to the NFL and moving to different cities and basically makes life a little easier for them. Is that correct? That may be way off the mark. And as far as recognizing your name, I've seen your user name several times and never thought anything of it. However, as soon as you mentioned Craig Steltz I recognized his name as the rookie safety for the bears, and then your name clicked. I was actually ready an article about the city of Chicago, and it mentioned you in there. It even had a quote from you, but I don't remember what it was. Something about a melting pot I think, LOL. Sorry, I know that is really random and not helpful. Anyway, this is a very long winded reply. I just think it's pretty cool that you are affiliated with the bears, and that Craig hunts.

is our website...continuing education, financial education, career internships/transition and player assistant services are the 4 areas i work in. we have a few other hunters on the team as well, and i constantly struggle to bring more folks to the outdoors!!!! Urlacher(upland birds), Bowman(bass), alex brown(bass), Buenning(fish&hunt), R Davis(upland birds), Harris(fish), Hester(fish), Lloyd(fish), Miller(one of our biggest outdoorsmen),Payne(another big outdoors fan),Stletz you know, Tillman(fish and target), McKie(target) i try and bring them to the outdoors to show them a different way of life all while enstilling some sort of fullfillment that we all get. heck were are in IL and most of the time hunters/anglers are dying to meet and spend time in the outdoors with these guys! i did the same in MN as the assistant Player Develoment guy and enjoyed great success with all the guys there. i love what i do and try to bring my passions into my job.
