Well my brothers and I had an idea last year to book a Canadian bear hunt for this fall. We weren't sure where we were going to go but we knew it would be fun! After poking around the internet and asking around we decided to go to Cygnet Lake Camp in Ontario. (Thanks fitz for the suggestion!) We arrived here last Friday and settled in for our first day in the stand on Saturday. After a good nights rest from our long drive we woke up and met with Chuck the owner of Cygnet. He is a great guy and made sure we had everything we needed. Chuck showed us some pictures and went over the game plan for the first day. I drew a stand that had a bear coming in that Chuck had been after for two years. It was a cinnamon sow that had a blonde mane running down her back. She had not produced a cub for two years and I was excited at the opportunity to get a chance to hunt her. The problem was she was a nomad. Just three days before we arrived she was at a site twenty miles from where I would be hunting that night but had moved to my site. We got a late start that first day and I settled into my stand at 2:00 pm. Well at 5:15 I noticed movement in the forest to my right and saw a bear coming toward my shooting lane. The bear poked around and broke a branch off somewhere in the woods and then disappeared. I thought it had caught my scent and left the area. Well five minutes later I noticed the bear to my left and realized it had circled the site and was now coming in. She came in at sixteen yards and gave me a good broadside shot and I buried an arrow tipped with a toxic broadhead through the lungs. The rest is history. I have attached a picture and there will be better pictures to come. I would like to thank Chuck Schaffer at Cygnet Lake Camp for an awesome time that isn't over yet! Two days of fishing left! Here is a video of my hunt. Hadn't had time to upload it until now. Sorry for the video at the end lol I was a little excited and forgot to zoom out. I was also blindly adjusting the camera as the bear was coming in so it was a little off when it was coming through the brush.
