My apologies if this is the wrong forum. Mods feel free to move if appropriate. Found this on Craigslist. 2012 Bear Encounter in excellent condition. $125 OBO Would this be a good deal for a hundred bucks? How would it compare with a newer bow? Is it easily adjusted like the Diamond Infinate Edge? Should I look for something newer? The newest bow that I own is a Bear Whitetail II. I expect this bow would be quite an improvement. For $100, would you consider it a good deal, great deal, or just okay? About me: Haven't shot a bow in years. Never hunted with one. I used to enjoy target shooting, and I have several bows that I haven't used in quite a while. Mostly recurves. As far as I could determine, this bow would fit me. Plan would be to use for deer hunting in Kentucky. Thanks in advance for any advice, suggestions, etc!
I really enjoy the bear encounter I have. Killed a pile of deer with it. It's a good shooting solid bow. Not my main bow anymore since I picked up a bear moment but I still have it and take it out on occasions. Yes it is easy to adjust the draw length and draw weight yourself without having to buy anything to do it. Just need Allen wrenches. For that price I'd jump on it. It will be night and day over the whitetail bow. And with the cash you save throw a trophy Ridge react site on it. Also amazingly easy to sight in.
The trophy Ridge React sight looks a little pricey. Is the factory sight that bad? While searching I did see quite a few people recommending replacing it. Looking on Amazon. So many sights out there! :-o
It's definitely pricey but IMO it's one of the best upgrades I did to the bow. The stock sight will def get the job done though.
Forgot to ask... Will my old 2117 aluminum arrows be okay to use with this bow until I get something better?
