Ok so here's the deal guys. I'm new to bow hunting as in I spent $400 dollars on a used bow to make sure I likes shooting one. I'm basically like my 4 year old with a new toy right now. Now that I know I enjoy shooting one I need some advice on shooting some turkeys. Tip suggestion what not. I have a ground blind and just got that primos box call... Thanks so much for everything in advance! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
DON'T over call!!!!! If you call too much you will shut them off. Those big Toms get wise real quick. Good luck!
Do your research. Everyone has a different way that works, and it is up to you to figure out the way you like and want to hunt them. Plus don't over call, and learn shot placement with a bow. A few millimeters can mean a dead bird or flying away bird. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Watch this video. Someone else added to another turkey thread. Shows where shot placement should be. I lost a couple last year from lack of knowledge. This would have helped. Less calling is more. Call and shut up. Curiosity killed the cat/turkey. This is good advice if you are a novice caller. Which is what I am. Works for me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g9z7wb-iv5U
Scout green fields early morning and late afternoon and learn where they're coming out, feeding and most importantly, where they're roosting and set up accordingly. Since turkeys see in 2D, due to eyes on each side of their head instead of in front like ours, you can set up your blind and take it home the same day and turkeys will not be able to tell the difference. Just be sure to have the sun at your back and only 1 window open on the blind to allow in the least amount of light possible. Set your decoy between 7 and 15 yards and kind of to the side where you think they will be coming from rather than directly in front of the blind so you're not directly in their line of sight while they're working the decoy. Good luck
