All bows are different. 1 bow may have a draw cycle where it hits peak weight early and stays peaked out for a long time and the next one may peak at the very end of the draw cycle and break over very abruptly. Consequently, will feel different. You may start using your lower back to break one over and the other breaks over easily for you. Same with draw length. Mathews is notorious for having longer draw lengths than stated and you may end up bending your back to get it over peak weight because it is drawing farther before it hits peak weight. You may bend your back all the time and one system will affect it differently. You shouldn't be using your lower back to draw the bow. Do you lean back at full draw? All this means is that you need to make the necessary adjustment. Lower poundage, shorten draw length and/or fix form. Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk 2
Yes, but I prefer to shoot standing in a treestand so I can move or rotate as the deer is moving. In a blind I usually will shoot from my knees rather than sitting, to also be able to pivot or move. I feel your shooting is constrained to a smaller area if you are sitting. Just my two cents.
First deer I killed with a bow was from a seated position and put a near perfect shot on it. 60lbs, 29 in.
sitting on the ground, sitting on a stool, kneeling and when doing all this in 15 below temps. The height of ground cover determines which position I'll be shooting from since I hunt on the ground 99% of the time. Ground cover can get pretty scarce and short in some of my spots. I've got to be able to draw my bow in any postion under any condition. Tim
Yep sure can, 62# 31"draw, try from multiple sitting positions while I practice too, gotta be prepared!
I guess I dont understand why anyone would not be able to draw their bow while sitting. If you cant, there is something seriously wrong.
Many are overdrawing and have to use their whole body to draw. Couple that with a draw length that is too long, then you can have some troubles. Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk 2
90% of the animals I have killed have been from a seated position so yes I can do it. I don't understand why anyone would not be able to...you don't use your legs to draw a bow?
Sure can with ease.. been practicing both standing and sitting positions for months now. I figure its the best way to practice cause u never know how things will play out in the field or tree. Nock em down, Drag em out!!
It's tougher to do no doubt. At least for me It always has been but then again I'm shooting a recurve and holding all 60lbs of the draw weight. I'd much rather shoot standing up or kneeling down.
I have never really tried to. I mostly hunt out of a climber, so I would not be able to shoot sitting down. Need to start practicing that, should start hunting more lock-ons this year. But I don't think it will be an issue.
This exactly. I see people with way too high of a draw weight that use bad form or point up at the sky awkwardly to draw back because it makes them more manly or somebody told them they need to pull that much weight. Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
