The pairings are as follows (all times Eastern and all games will be televised on ESPN): --Rose Bowl presented by VIZIO, Jan. 2, Pasadena, Calif., 5 p.m.: Oregon vs. Wisconsin --Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, Jan. 2, Glendale, Ariz., 8:30 p.m.: Oklahoma State vs. Stanford --Allstate Sugar Bowl, Jan. 3, New Orleans, La., 8:30 p.m.: Michigan vs. Virginia Tech --Discover Orange Bowl, Jan. 4, Miami, Fla., 8:30 p.m.: Clemson vs. West Virginia --Allstate BCS National Championship Game, Jan. 9, New Orleans, La., 8:30 p.m.: Alabama vs. Louisiana State So.......... who do you have for the BCS games? Rose= Oregon wins by a late TD to take the lead in what turns out to be the most exciting BCS game Fiesta= Okalahoma State by 13 and they control most of the game. Stanford gets down early and is never able to catch up. Sugar= Meatchicken wins a snoozer Orange= Clemson wins big being they have not been in a big bowl game in quite some time. BCS Championship= LSU wins a tight one again and proves they are the best team. If Alambama wins I believe it will be the start of the end of the BCS (if that hasn't already occured)
Just wanted to point out Florida and Florida State already did the rematch thing. FSU beat them in the regular season finale (last game of the season for you Michigan and Ohio State guys) and then Florida pounded FSU in the sugar bowl claiming the national title. Unless someone has another 100 million dollar option, the BCS is here for awhile. Talking heads, continuos coverage, boards such as this all fuel that money machine. For the record, I have stated numerous times on here that if BAMA would have gotten jumped I would have been fine with that as well. Oregon, Stanford, Clemson...all win Michigan and VT go to OT and keep scoring on each other until they rule it a tie. Bama and LSU...won't touch that won, although Hooker has already jumped on the wagon and picked Bama.
Wisconsin wins... Oregon will look badass in their new uni's... But until Oregon actually wins a big game I cannot pick them. It pains me to pick Wisconsin to win.... Now I feel filthy. OSU beats Stanford if none of their players are ruled ineligible due to their recent report to the NCAA of players selling their stuff. Virginia Tech beats Michigan... Although I hope Michigan wins and has a good season next year so tOSU can rip their hearts out in "The Game". LSU beats Bama again, this way it wont be such a hit to the Tigers when the buckeyes steal their O-line coach / O- coordinator. EDIT I forgot to add the Clemson - WV game. Clemson over WV... Their QB Boyd will have his day against WV.
True, but both teams won their respective conferences. If Alabama wins this year, you have a NC that didn't even win their conference. This makes sense in other sports with a real playoff, but not so much in a one game playoff system. Oregon, Ok State, Michigan, Clemson, LSU.
Don't feel filthy. Feel the joy of predicting the good guys to win. :p Seriously though. Wisconsin will lose the RB because of special teams IMHO. Oregon runs back at least one, maybe more kicks. I do see the Badgers jumping out on the Oregon early. But Oregon coming back in the 4th. I hope I am wrong.
Alabama is the best football team in the nation. I thought they looked the better team even in their loss to LSU. Better defense, best RB in the game, and overall a better offense IMO. If it wasn't for special teams being atrocious, I don't see another team touching them this year. Whether or not they deserved a spot in the Natty C is up for debate, but there is no questioning that they are in the top 2 teams in the nation, which is the criteria teams are currently picked by. I hope Wisconsin beats Oregon, but I don't see it happening. I have Oregon, OK St, Va Tech, and Clemson all winning...although I hope the exact opposite happens for each game. I'd love to see Stanford rip OK St to silence the talk of them being cheated. I'd love for Michigan to show out with West Va out of sheer hate for the ACC. I don't like Wisconsin, but they are the lesser of two evils there. Saban will bring home his 3rd title this year, and be just as scary next year. The funny thing to me is that the two teams in the national championship are likely the front runners for next year as well. Both are very very deep and have some young talent returning to cover the guys going pro.
It's pretty hard to make a decent argument that Bama is better than LSU since LSU beat Bama on their home field. You need to put the Crimson colored cool-aid down for a while. Appearance doesn’t matter. Final scores do matter.
Man I hate that Alabama is playing in yet another BCS game. If they win... all we will hear for the next 10 years is Roll Tide! this and Roll tide that!!! If they lose... it's even worse, they still won't stop with the Roll Tide!!! this and Roll Tide that!!! And if Auburn beats them by some miracle ever again... who knows what one of their crazy fans will poison.
I don't even see how Alabama could appear better than LSU. I hear "Bama's defense dominated LSU's offense" all the time. I don't know how people are coming to that conclusion. Bama out gained LSU by 56 yards. Alabama had more passing yards, while LSU had more rushing. Best RB in the country? Time of possession? Equal. 1st downs? Almost equal. I don't know where this "Bama dominated LSU except in FG kicking" myth started. I'm assuming it started somewhere in the bowels of the state of Alabama, and slowly festered it's way out, one idiotic Gump at a time.
I changed my national title game pick. I had Alabama for one reason, and one reason only. Trent Richardson. He carried Alabama during the first match up, but I think it'll be harder for him to do during the NC game. I started thinking about the last couple title games when there were star players and Heisman winners or finalists in the game and whether or not they CARRIED their team. Newton played well last year, but so Dyer was awesome. Ingram and Richardson were good against Texas, but McCoy being hurt definitely helped Alabama. Tebow played well, but he didn't dominate the game. I can really only think of Vince Young carrying his team in the title game. I just think that when defenses and defensive coordinators have over a month to prepare for a team they can't limit what the opposing offense's best players are capable of. If LSU can contain / limit / slow down Richardson, who is going to be them. McCarron? Marquis Maze? I don't see it.
Anyone who thinks Bama doesn't have the better defense is an LSU fan. Anyone who thinks Richardson isn't the best RB in the nation, is a Wisconsin fan. LSU may win again, but I watched the entire game the first time, and was more impressed with Bama despite the loss. I think both teams are amazing and way better than anyone else, so its a hard game to call. Saying either team is better would give you a good argument as to why. I always sound like a Bama fan in these arguments, but I'm not. In fact, I HATE Alabama fans. I'm just impressed with their team this year. If I picked a favorite team in college football, sadly it would be Kentucky. That's why I end up neutrally watching everyone else for the year, lol.
I love the fact that in the history of mankind a college football thread has never stayed on topic. That is what makes it great, there will never be total agreement... If we had a playoff this year it could go like this.. #1 LSU against #4 Stanford #2 Alabama against #3 OK State That would be beautiful right.........And here it comes, wait for it, wait, wait......yep Oregon fans are pissed and the system sucks because they beat Stanford head to head, so how are they skipped. Now we need 8 teams and so on and so forth....
I believe Oklahoma got beat by Kansas State in their conference championship game and still went on to play in the BCS title game against LSU (Saban). I may be wrong, but could look it up if need be. Not arguing, just pointed out all this has happened before...and i am sure the world was in up roar at that time as well, especially the team "left out".
I saw in your sig you were from BAMA but I had no idea you pulled for Au BARN... Let me be the first to say WELCOME little brother.. So now we have little brother and a corndog (Hooker)...the board is getting better and better all the time... Muzzy, just for the record this is all in good fun, Hooker already knows that, plus he hates everyone anyway
Yeah and they looked pretty decent against the Cavs. I was impressed with Rocco but I was also wondering why Trotter couldn't play that well earlier in the season. I guess great teams like LSU and Bama (I shuddered) make good teams look bad.
