At 10 this morning it was 16 below. It wasn't going to get much warmer so I took off at 11 which by this time had warmed up to 14 below. Checked a quick spot... no luck. Got to the main area I wanted to snoop and started the 3/4 mile walk to get to a spot I figured would be hot. Saw two bucks with one carrying just a side and the other carrying both. Saw 4 coyotes by the time I got back to the truck. I was wishing I had brought my .243 !! The spot was indeed pretty hot. Picked up 6 sheds in a 3-4 acre spot. I would imagine there are a few sheds buried in the snow. I had deer come back into that spot while I was there. I was surprised how much I got away with. One fawn was really curious but my camera wasn't taken the cold too well so I never got a picture of it when he would come within 60 yards checking me out several times. Also had a coyote sit down and watch me for a while. He stayed about 70 - 80 yards away. Was a great outing !!! Anyways... here are the sheds... I see two.... Tim
Awesome pics, and great finds! Found another dead deer (a fawn this time) while pullin trail cam cards. I really need to shoot some damn dogs around here soon.
I hear ya! My friend and i got set for what we think was the last hunt for us at 4 this afternoon and the windchill was -30, i had 1 muzzleloader tag left and i filled it about 5:15. We both agreed that was the coldest hunt we've ever done.
Congrats on filling your last tag. Hunting is a lot tougher in the cold then shed hunting. Least with shed hunting you are moving to stay warm. Tim
