Great job, that has to be so rewarding to see a wild animal do what you trained it to do. I have an uncle who also does this with Hawks and it is just unreal how quick they pick things up and understand commands.

nice Dave. hey had a question... this is your second or third bird. for the life of me i can only remember Roxie but i think that was two birds ago??? do you think you will ever see any of the birds you've had before? will you even recognize them (barring all conditions are in your favor i.e. you have your camera to see, your glove to call etc?)

Is she not trying to eat the rabbit?

When I did the falconry in Scotland you had to get to the hawk asap when it caught something because if it ate the prey, it would be full and not come back to your arm till it was hungry again.

I would so love to do falconry though.

Thanks for all the interest and comments everyone. It is pretty amazing being able to catch a bird out of the wild and have her all trained to let you hunt with it in a month. Hunting with them is most definately my favorite wintertime activity.

Isiah - this is actually my third bird. First one was Roxie, second one I just called Hawkie all the time, and this one is Moka. If I was ever by chance to catch one of my previos birds I would be able to tell them, we banded them before releasing them.

Afflicted - The first couple fuzzies we catch - I usually let them crop up and eat as much as they want, so she was actually eating when I took these pics last night. When they get a good crop on them - I just take out her lure and she hops right from the rabbit right onto the lure. It's called trading off and she did pretty good last night. Now that she associates me with beating the brush and flushing game for her - it makes her follow even better.

I hope I can get some video of her in flight after one. The video I took last night was after she already caught it. I'll try and get it edited and post it up tonight if I get time.

    That's just amazing:rock:

You should do some youtube videos on it all or get yourself published in some hunting mags.

That's the ****z. That may beat bow hunting even:)

    Many thanks for sharing.

Well Moka has been a killing machine. So far we've got 2 rabbits, one squirrel, one chipmunk, 4 mice, a bullfrog and a snake.. lol.. She has been having some killer flights on the rabbits, right now she misses alot more than she gets but it'll only get better once all the leaves are gone and we got some snow on the ground.

    Her latest wabbit

And a little clip of her woofin down that nasty snake...

I hope to get some in flight vids of her crashing after some rabbits. Will post if I do.
