You would, Sept 2013 join date is GTG. I won't bicker over exact join date outside of month. You would at minimum be elgible...depending on selection process we go with you could be repping MN.
I'd be interested as well. I would like to see bigger teams but you're running the show. Maybe next year a couple more could be added.
If interest is there....I could always go with 5 or 6....all will depend on how many states are in. Problem with too big and some of our lesser populated states would be out. I think this is gonna happen just have to hone some of the selection process with the advice that has been given and may still be coming!
Another recommendation would be to use the scoring system as a selection, but once you're in the competition, next year you will be placed at the bottom of the selection list regardless of score. This will give some other guys a chance to join in, especially in Kansas. That is if you plan on making last more than one year.
Oooo....I like this. Keeps teams fresh each year...good thing is this could be decided next year and would depend on interest.
I like the idea of using top scores from each state better, it seems a better representation of each states hunters here on the forum. A few teams may get stale from time to time but it's better than including subpar hunters to represent a state just in the interest of keeping teams fresh.
Not sure how many guys on here are from Louisiana and I doubt that we would place real high but I would be happy to represent!
Well most guys that stay on here for more than a year are, at the very least, average hunters. Having good hunters represent your state is great but it would get extremely stale. IMO. Also a good time for the other good hunters of that state to give pointers to the hunters representing.
As for those of you stating you wouldn't want essentially dream teams being the same every year...I think I will settle on a mixture. Say teams are of 5 guys. 3 or 4 of those spots would be guaranteed based on previous year's bh.com contest score. Then those guys would choose the final one or two team spots (whether that be based on randomness, board activity, experience or scores). Best of both worlds and like Jake mentioned keeping it to 1+ year members we naturally will have the interest of typically "more" dedicated hunters and the more dedicated you are "typically" the better you are. *It is for fun though in the end.
I'm in the same boat for Nevada. Unless we did a region, like Nevada, Utah, California and Oregon. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm afraid I won't make the cut since I didn't participate in the contest.. That's ok.. will be fun to watch anyway...
1) the selection process discussion is getting too complicated. what is wrong with dream teams every year... isn't that the whole point? - My state's participants kill the biggest bucks year after year, right?!?!? there is no guarantee that every participant is gonna play year after year anyway... 2) combining lesser represented states is a good idea - western states & southern states (Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi & Florida...for example...) - I feel for Florida though and their puny deer... 3) has anyone ever compiled stats for states from previous contests?
Bone Head I will be honest I thought of guys that don't do the bh.com contest one year and yet desire to play this the following. I would hate to see an active member like you not be elgible. Stay tuned, gonna polish this all up with advice here and produce hopefully a fair and good side game.
Your #3 is the pivotal thing. I think for this contest I would need to have the sign up include name, state, and score from previous year. Only way to solve this.
This was my thinking too, being from a state with deer, not exactly known for their size...ignore Sharpeyedsam's deer though...:D lol ~Bill
